/k/ I need some advice.
I have the choice of a mosin nagant or SMLE No1 Mk3 as my first rifle and was wondering what to pick up based on your recommendations.
Both are in good condition but the enfield does not have a matching bolt.
Mosin
Costs on each, please?
I would expect the nugget to be about half the cost at least, so if money is a concern you'd best get it to avoid any trouble with buying ammo for it.
Long term, however, is a more dicey matter. Nugget prices are slowly rising, a bit faster than enfields in my opinion. We keep getting told the era of cheap mosins is nearing an end, so it might be best to get on the bus now.
A non-matching enfield isn't particularly collectible, so unless you have a great desire to simply own one I would say hold off for a better example.

Neither. Get a Savage or Ruger American.
How poor are you? SMLEs are more fun then nuggets but .303 sure as shit ain't cheap.

$750 for both, I live in Aus.

Oh
Oh dear.
Well, that does change things a bit. I can't speak about ammo availability, but I'm told .303 is much more common there then in the states.
If only for your heritage, I would say the enfield.

Which has the worst recoil?
>>27542488
Oh you poor fuck. I'd go with the Mosin just because 54r is cheaper and easier to find than .303 Brit.

Nevermind, I can't into reading apparently. 303 is probably easier to find over there than in the states. Get the Enfield and have fun.
>>27542511
Neither recoil particularly hard but .303 is much softer.

Get an Enfield. Honestly, it's just not worth it to get a Mosin when the price is equal to that of something else, especially when it's your standard 91/30.
Must say, though, that you'd probably be very happy with the Mosin due to ease of disassembly and being part of the Mosin culture in a way.

This. If .303 is cheap there then theres literally no reason to get the mosin
