Trial was short and okay. Served mostly as an introduction to the characters and what's happening in the countryside. Will start the prequel tomorrow. There's some jokes in between serious conversations. Just that some of the scene switching from serious to funny is kind of jarring. I look forward to what family politics drama and shit that will be in the full game. I hope that year and a half was worth the wait.

Finished the prequel. That was really interesting. Gave me a better idea of what's happening during the trial. It shows circumstances in the Yoshioka family and the MC and Juri's past. How am I supposed to root for not-Nono in the main game after reading the prequel?

It's basically a love triangle drama, but there's a lot going on in the background with the corporation and townspeople. I don't know what direction it's ultimately going to take, but the setting has a lot of room for the writers to do interesting things with it. I personally also enjoyed the way it's presented (at least in the trial): third-person, relatively large cast, shifting perspectives. Makes it read more like a novel than a typical eroge.

To be honest it's a bit hard to get a handle on, because the trial itself is short and the prequel story, 泥亀の月, has a very different tone from the main game and focuses on different characters for the most part. I would suggest trying out 泥亀の月 (link: >>17602565), and seeing what you think. It's a pretty interesting little story, even just on its own.

I'm not completely against moege and like some, but Marshmallow was not too great. It's just: Most moege are even worse. Even a lot worse. I tried the Whirlpool release of the same month, and it made me hate all the girls within not even 10 minutes. Marshmallow may not be that great, but it was better than that.

Moege are ultimately just about how much you can resonate with one of its heroines. I think, the moment you are fine with reading more than one route, it's already a failure. The love-triangle part is at the trial since that where the Iroha is introduced, love at first sight with the MC but reveals that the MC likes(?) Juri. A completely different cast makes for a completely different experience. But if you have the same cast, the same protag and so on, going from girl to girl will always cheapen the "pure love" aspect. You aren't fine with the girls getting another boyfriend in a different route either. Probably at least. It's a similar thing.
If however you only play one girl's route and say "yes, this was this guy's/my story and I'm absolutely content with it", then the "you are the only one" pure love stuff has more value. The relationship has some staying power. If you think back to the game, this one relationship defines it. Reading another route would just feel silly with a (for you) perfect ending for this game/MC/story. At least for a while.

The point however is, that one girl needs to be good enough that you still don't want to read another girl's route afterwards, even though you'd normally be interested. I thought it was good. It's been a long time so I don't remember a lot of specifics, but I remember enjoying Chihaya's route quite a bit. Tamami's Kansai-ben is nice, and the MC's dick clears her gay right up. Akiho's route was decent, though I thought the ending was a bit silly. Last time people in this thread discussed it we seemed pretty divided on it. Like the other anon I also preferred the first three routes more, i.e. Miyabi > Tonoko > Shino.
Sumika and Misaki's routes are bit lackluster but Yuuna's is better. However Yuuna's route is locked behind enforced order and you have to complete the other two routes first, in which case be sure go in Sumika > Misaki > Yuuna order. The reason for this is that while you technically can do the first two in either order, Misaki's route heavily spoils and solves Sumika route's main drama.

Also there's a short additional epilogue and additional vocal track if you finish all the routes.

Does anyone actually like the moving text boxes in stuff like Purple Software games? Thankfully you can enable normal text boxes at least

I'm going back and forth between Sumire and Yumemishi (https://vndb.org/v565).

Sumire had pretty good receptions here a few years back. The protagonist being a working adult adds extra point. His narrative about being unable to enjoy anime/eroge due to the hectic work life really resonates with me.

Yumemishi's route structure is interesting, to say the least. Too bad the writing is bland with most of the jokes fell flat.

The very first choice, choosing 凛音 progresses to the normal route where you eventually find the shack by the beach. Choosing リンネ gives me a dead end and none of the answer choices seem to matter. I don't ever actually get to choose between 凛音 and リンネ and the choices are about who she meets on the beach and her genetics.

I think I might be retarded, but I was trying to install Hiragumo-chan on my Surface Pro 3 and I got no voice or bgm, but can get sound effects.

Everything in アマツツミ sounds super loud. Not in a pure volume sort of way but like a clippy sort of way, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I'm glad they made the shinsengumi more likeable and kinder here compare to shinsengumi in chushingura and also thank god it is not about time travel and the protag actually came from this era. It's okay. The prologue is written by Ou Jackson and is by far the best part of the VN, the writing audibly thumps down several levels once the main game starts and it never recovers, so you basically have to pretend the prologue and the main game are completely separate entities. Go in blind but save at every choice bit and make sure you see them all, the true end is a bit annoying to get. There'll be times when you have like 5 locations to visit but you'll get hit with plot after only 3 or so, just reload and read the other two and you'll be fine.

Why do people here hate Hoshi Ori and Ginharu? They made it that way on purpose you kinda have to have a viewing order or things get spoilt

But it despair aired after future, based on anidb. If they wanted a good viewing order, a 2 cour series with a defined and clear viewing order would be easier.


Well, I don't know. I only know that I probably won't be going to Dangan3 directly after 2, because that already went badly with 1->2, where I quickly lost interest. So maybe I'll just add at least the other game with different gameplay to it.. or something. No idea. What's the best way to play Higurashi on my laptop? There's Matsuri which seems to have the first couple installments but I'm confused about how complete each version is.
Someone recommended the Sui release but that's only for Vita and PS3.

Matsuri is a decent way to play Higurashi. Most of the added stuff is only partly done by R07, if at all, so you wouldn't even need Matsuri.
The original is already complete enough.
If you really like the characters though, you can go for Matsuri and in extension Sui. Some of the stories are really bad in my opinion, so don't expect a lot.

Is share worth getting for eroge? I just wasted several hours getting Perfect Dark to work just to find out they don't have jackshit when it comes to eroge.

Even though I've enjoyed quite a few eroge in the last while, I haven't really had anything that truly gripped me where I kept looking forward to what happens next. I really want to play a game like Sharin no Kuni again...
