I've been on the lookout to buy a pc-98 game for years, but yahoo auctions tends to have fake copies made by chinese come up every now and again that it's actually become a problem that Japanese complain about on forums.

Depends on the conditions, last time I saw the collection selling at a bidding for 30k dollars I think. Maybe they were mint condition.

Year ago I saw one going for 8k instead so the price you have there sounds reasonable.
Maybe hunting for the games individually is cheaper though, MS for example went for 800$ when sold alone
