I thought for a moment Ace for Aces was gonna be the next OTP, but then I saw the difficult chart was only a 13. I assume once that or the expert chart is passed, we'll see Endymion CSP.

I think it's gonna be another 19, it might be too early for a 20.
>>
>>17319823
I don't think we'll be seeing the Challenge charts for these new songs any time soon. The DDR team likes to withhold things like that to prevent content droughts.

We'll probably get a series of encore extra stages now, all with instant death on non-perfect mechanic, finishing with something with a 20 Challenge chart sometime in 2018.
I'd guess Endymion CSP will be Egoism 440 with a few crossovers thrown in, but lower notecount to avoid making the chart too hard.
>>
How would you order difficulty curve of Bemani games? IIDX > SDVX > pnm > MUSECA > DDR?
>>
>>17322288
IIDX > pop'n > GF > DM > SDVX > DDR > RB > Museca = Jubeat

DDR is so fucking weird because most of the charts are comically easy but then you get bombarded with wall after wall when you get into mid-17s and up, which total up to less than 4% of all Expert/Challenge charts in the game. DP 19s are balls to the wall fucking retarded. For a game where the apex of difficulty is up there with pop'n and IIDX SP, DDR is a retardedly low baseline difficulty. I will never understand why 14/15s are still given boss song status when literally other Bemani game casually shits out charts that stopped being considered boss chart caliber 15 years ago. It would be like if IIDX still had 8s and 9s being the status quo for another charts, which they stopped doing after 10th style.

I think popn is far harder than iidx to be honest, not only are there more buttons, with absolutely brutal chords, but there's a lot more gimmick charts, or charts that are specifically designed to piss you off, and on top of that if you compare like, iidx 12s to popn50s, if youre a top iidxer you can clear 12s but if you're a top popper, you might only be able to clear 48/49 because the 50s are beyond insane. plus there's no strategically using random in popn and there's no equivalent for wrist-scratching.
>>
>>17322668
iidx doubles tho
>>
>>17322532
nice 8 clear
>>
>>17322451
DDR peak level charts aren't even particularly hard when comparing them to peak level charts from other rhythm games. The 19s would probably end up being 11s in IIDX if ported there. You could also compare them to the harder charts from Pump It Up and they'd fit somewhere along 23 out of 26 in singles, keeping in mind there's a massive technical and conceptual abyss between 24 and 25 in Pump.
DDR's low baseline difficulty is simply due to the quality of playerbase in Japan, where vast majority of players aren't fit enough to play anything harder than 14 and you can count people capable of consistently passing 18s on on your fingers. Unlike all the other rhythm games where you play with hands, you need to use your legs and by proxy your entire body, making physical fitness a basic requirement to improve.
>>
>>17322668
The skill ceiling for both is too high for either one to be relevantly harder at the top level.

Also there's doubles, which would be even harder than popn by your logic.

Also because there is too little difficulties in iidx, of course doing 50s is harder, because clearing 12s isn't a big deal.
>>
>>17322923
The difficulty in DDR comes mainly from movement tech, which you can't really port to non-dance games. And the level of difficult tech in 19s is completely absurd. If you look at them based on what the top players typically score on them, they're easily comparable to IIDX 12s.

Just got my FP7

I was wondering if it comes with the latest firmware already or do I have to update it myself?

Also how do I change the turntable sensitivity?
>>

Also, is there anything I should do before using it for the first time besides updating? I can't imagine there would be but I'm not sure.

One last question for the moment is how do I switch it to be 2P side? Do I just open it up and switch panels around?

For 2P, just unscrew the panel and rotate it. You don't have to swap the panels.

I'm at the point now where I think I'm going to try to earn as much Buzz as possible so that I can get the rare qpro parts from the site. Repeatedly failing songs gets too demoralizing after a while, at least for purposes of going out to the arcade to play it. I can fail songs all day at home.

This inspired me to look at the pages for Pendual and Copula and I guess all that data is totally gone? That's sort of a shame, though I probably would have taken a screen shot had I really cared enough about it.

>>
>>17333360
it's really hard to mfc because of the weird stop and the jacks at the end. also the song is a meme. it's not the craziest ddr accomplishment ever, or anything like that
>>
>>17334306

because noodles are fucking stupid and annoying

it's fun to press buttons, not to hold them down
only soulless gooks find long notes fun
>>
>>17334306
There's only four lanes so the only way to add complexity is to make the tracks super mashy. There isn't a real reason for them to hate long notes, it's just that 4K attracts people who love mashing buttons, and if you have a long note that could have been multiple ordinary button mashes.
>>
>>17334306
4 lanes doesn't have enough room for good noodle patterns like 7 lanes has.

Though most of the hate is probably just because people aren't used to those kinds of patterns so they feel uncomfortable to them.
>>
>>17334306
Noodles are fine as long as they're used in moderation and judge the release as well as the initial hold.

>>
does it matter about having the right springs and sanwas and 1c3s for SDVX, or is it all about the knobs?

im asking because I think I'm going to finally get a controller and learn it but not sure if it's worth splurging for the accurate button setup because that can get expensive, and if it's more about having good knobs than good buttons ill just get the generic dao buttons and switches.
>>
>>17336610
Sanwas and the arcade knob set are most likely not worth it unless you play at an arcade frequently. Though if you really want one of these you'd probably want the Sanwa buttons.
Most people recommend just getting 50g Omrons and the Copal knobs (although some have said that the ALPS are just fine too).
>>
>>17322668
just because there are impossible charts in popn doesnt mean the game is harder. becoming a top level iidx player is far harder than becoming a top level popn player because iidx has a much higher bar for what is possible. the hardest iidx songs have much greater density than similar popn songs' AND the players can actually play them instead of the songs just being impossible due to controller limitations like in popn. the controller has less restrictions unlike the super spread out popn controller, allowing for harder charts to be made that are all actually possible

not to shit on popn, i love the game. but i think its silly to say that popn is harder just because there are dogshit impossible charts in the game
>>
For playing beatmania on ps2, do you use a CRT TV or an hdtv with component cables? I'm using to doing the former but my Tv just broke so i'm wondering if i should get a new CRT or get component cables
>>
>>17337020
You should always play on a CRT when playing CS.
>>
>>17333360
People have been trying to grind this chart to MFC since Marvelous timing became standard. You'd figure it would have been MFC'd a hell of a lot earlier since MAX 300 is iconic as fuck for DDR, but dumb shit like the end jacks and the stop are perfect magnets.

>Was this like the last song to get MFC'd or something?
Not even the last song in the DDR Max folder to be MFC'd, my dude.
>>
>>17337020
>>17337037
The later CS games have offset options just like modern AC does, though you'd still need a pretty good HDTV in order for it to be playable even on -5.0. Of course CRT will always be the better experience.
>>

i would recommend playing a lot of 14s first, the 15 folder is honestly full of bullshit-ass bullshit

like two-thirds of the songs in the 15 folder have significant gimmicks
>>
>>17342254
well, yeah. they just mentioned stamina so i assumed they had at least decent form/technique.

there are three facets to ddr skill imo.

physical ability (the same kind of shit that would affect your ability to run, jump, etc. outside of playing the game),

physical technique (how and when you twist and turn your body to follow patterns, making your feet step accurately with as little energy as possible),

and game technique (knowing how to sightread, understanding sync and being able to adjust your timing when you're off, recognize patterns, memorize certain things about charts for subsequent plays, theorycraft strats for really tricky charts, etc.)

In all seriousness, sows should allow scans since the posters were never really meant for personal ownership. Fuck those scalping cunts who think their poster with prominent rips and wrinkles and heavily frayed edges are worth anymore than the paper they were printed on.
>>
>>17344816
I'd pay ~60 for most legit posters, 100 max if it's an older game. A lot of those posters have foil and stuff that isn't easily reproducible on repros.
The fact that they aren't more widely available is garbage.
>>
>>17344836
The absolute max I would pay for one would barely be $50, and it would have to be PERFECT. Any more than that, then I would expect it to be autographed or for it to be for an older game where there don't exist any decent scans for them do to low demand or being obscenely rare (ie. Mambo a Go Go, super early DDR, etc.). People vastly over value that kind of stuff on Sows, like that one fucking retard who tried asking $350 USD for a IIDX RA folder and still couldn't get offers after bringing the price down to half the original asking price or the dipshit who wanted $150 for Crossbeats Rev.
>>

Not really, no. I'm fine in day to day life. One of my two jobs is fairly labor-intense, even, with me on my feet all day doing moderate to heavy lifting. But when it comes to 14s and above in DDR, I can read the steps and all just fine (with pretty good accuracy, like if I could maintain it throughout I'd have pre-Ace AAs) but always hit a point midway where I just run out of steam and can't finish. I dunno man.

There must be something wrong with the way I play, I guess.

Yeah I've done that, I just can't seem to mimic it right. Even when I'm bar raping, I end up expending energy that I don't think I should be expending. I've gotten okay recently (relatively speaking) at keeping my feet near the center to minimize movement between the arrow panels, but other than that I'm still crap.

It'd help if I got to play more often than maybe once a month if I'm lucky, but unless I come into some serious money and can buy my own machine or commission someone to make me a good metal pad, then it's just not in the cards. Oh well, what can ya do.

At least with kbm you're ""playing"" piano. In that, if you took a pattern you learned in a song and hit the keys on a real piano, you'd be playing that part of the song. It'll probably sound like shit since your technique and everything would be off, but still

Be FEFEMZ.

But seriously, the exact advice depends on what exactly you struggle with. If your problem is foot placement (going too far and draining yourself or not going far enough and missing the panel), pick some easy chart (at most DDR 13 or ITG 9) with a lot of slow-ish crossovers, memorize the relevant sections and instead of looking at the screen look at your feet below. Grind a few of those charts for a while (preferrably with increasing difficulty) and you should be able to intuitively know where exactly you should put your feet from now on.
If your problem is not keeping up with fast crossovers, then there's no choice other than grinding crossover-heavy charts until you can consitently nail crossovers at increasing speed and density. I'd suggest the following progression for mid to high level charts:
Know Your Enemy (ITG2)
The Beginning (ITG1)
Paranoia Respect
Paranoia Survivor MAX
Emera
Bloodrush (ITG2)
Air Heroes
Paranoia Revolution ESP
New Decade
Tohoku Evolved
Trip Machine Evolution
It sucks if you don't have access to ITG or Stepmania machine because DDR doesn't have a 15 footer anywhere near as good as Know Your Enemy when it comes to learning mid level crossovers.

When does the required memorization kick in in SDVX?

iidx12.tk is the best site for the 12 ratings, there's also clickagain of course and statistik, but those two are pretty bad.

Clickagain isn't updated anymore so that's bad and the statistik ratings are all over the place because people who register can just give random ratings. So they tend to be pretty inaccurate.

iidx12tk is the best because a large amount of jp people vote on the ratings and they end up being pretty accurate, because there's a large amount of people voting and such. It's also split into charts that have gimmicks and those that don't.

The cheapest and easiest way would be to buy an old wii model, and then use an sd card and usb to softmod it. It's very easy to do, lots of good tutorials out there; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKPEgwbCFa8

Once that is done you can make your wii play any region locked game (like taiko) which means japanese disc will work if you buy them from asia. You can also go all the way and just download the game iso's and run them from an usb on your modded wii and buy only the drumset. Added benefit is that you can now also play any nes, snes, gamecube, wii, gbc, gba rom etc on your wii for free.

The rest of the games are on this site too, they require you to go through a bunch of ads to get to the download but the files are legit and work on my wii.

Definitely pop'n. Sucks to get lumped in with all the gay furries though
>>
>>17366909
I used to play pop'n at 780-800 scroll speed. Now it's down to 720.

The strange thing is I got gud at reading slow sections like in Kimono Princess, something I never managed in the past.
>>
What was your first 2dx wall and how did you smash it, and how long did it take?
>>
>>17368333
8s to 9s, got past it by stepping back and looking at things like scroll speed and lane cover. Took about a month but I also took a large break in the game in between so probably a little less for somebody who plays the game regularly.
>>
>>17368333
10s to 11s. I didn't really do anything special. I just took about a month break from the game. When I came back I focused on clearing as many 10s as I could and then started clearing more and more 11s. I am now breaking into 12s and have about 50 cleared.
>>
>>17368333
9~10. Still on it. I'm slowly getting 10 clears, but it's far slower than with most other levels.

It's still a rhythm game though so what's the problem ?
>>
>>17368540
>>17368549
>>17368558
Your walls were so high... Mine is still 7 -> 8 for like a month and a half. I think maybe I'm not cut out for this shit
>>
>>17368903
7~8 is certainly a bigger jump than anything before it, but just keep going. 8s is when a lot of heavier patterns start getting used (especially chords). On a positive note, it's a fairly straightfoward wall. Playing some streamy 7s could help you get few 8 clears.
>>
>>17368333
11s
just went into the 11 folder, sorted by clear rate and worked up from the bottom
took a few months before half the list was done and then i considered myself "able" to do 11s

then 2015/06/26 i cleared my first 12
and 2106/04/06 i cleared my 30th and last 12
i haven't even tried to do any more since then and i can probably no longer clear the ones i did before
i'm basically here >>17329863
>>
>>17368920
>2106/04/06 i cleared my 30th and last 12

Damn it took a while to get through that wall.
>>
>>17368937
starting with 10s, each level has walls inside walls
have fun!
>>
>>17368937
i didn't get through it, i smashed into it and died

at least museca and dm are fun
>>
>>17368805
Meh, might be interested if I had a tablet. Rhythm games on a small as phone are no fun
>>
>>17368920

I feel like this is happening to me and I can't even clear 12s

But the idea of just trying to be content with being mediocre is really bothersome to me, but also the amount of time and effort required to get good is also a big investment so it's a frustrating situation
Maybe I'll just chill out and settle for 10th dan and playing for "fun", whatever that is
>>
>getting gud at guitarfreaks

Who decided that diagonal arrows were a good idea anyway

Is the only way to loosen an FP7's turntable the screws under the sticker?
Mine hasn't started peeling off yet and I'm too autistic to rip it off myself

>I wish there was like a Bemanigirl but for iidx posters
Same, it'd be super nice.

Weren't poster scans part of the reason horo got banned too?
>>
idk why but i have a hard time trying to read ddr charts
>>
why does improvement come after breaks?
>>
>>17370992
Don't know about loosening, but you should rip the sticker off either way. TT feels much better without it.

>>17371374
You get exhausted mentally by playing a lot and taking a break lets you regain your true peak performance.
>>
>>17371374
Try drinking (lightly) while playing after a break. That's where the massive improvement comes from
>>
>>17371404
Why would it feel better? I don't touch tyne sticker anyway
>>
>>17368805
I like it aesthetically.
>>
>>17371493
I didn't either until I removed mine. Having the whole thing uncovered feels a lot more natural. You can just plop it back on after you're done or if you don't like it though.
>>
>>17371374
Your brain unlearns bad habits faster than it unlearns good ones.
>>
How do I lighten my fingers and/or make them faster. I think one of my problems is hitting too hard even when consciously trying to be gentler
>>
>>17371984
Stop trying to hit gently and just keep playing until your stamina gets up to the level (assuming that's your problem)
Hitting hard helps with timing.
>>
what are some good 7s to help me transition to 8s
>>
>>17372705
insane techniques, chrono diver pendulums, bad maniacs, 3y3s, anything dense
>>
>>17372719
lol 3y3s is a 9 and honestly if you can combo the ending you can clear some tens like sweet clapper
>>
tfw want to play but my hand hurts
>>
>>17372807
I think I may have something psychological at this point. I'm taking lots of breaks, spe d several days resting and not feeling anything on my right hand but if I think about finally playing my hand stings.

I'm serious, I think I'm so scared of fucking up my hands for life I'm unconsciously sabotaging myself to not play IIDX
>>
>>17372773
only the ending is challenging. that said, even the ending doesn't really feel like a 9, but certainly not a 7.
it's doable for a 7 player and very good introduction to harder chords, since that will be quite essential to breaking into some chord heavy 8s like critical crystal

If I came inside Mayumi, would I be accepted into sows

>>17373159
Yes but you have to prove it.

Try to hit the keys as light as possible and let the springs do the work bouncing your fingers off the keys.
