I would personally recommend against just sticking them on the floor as they can trap moisture. It's best to raise them off the ground a bit with a frame of some sort. Or just elevate them.

Tatami bedframes can be found just googling it, but they are stupidly expensive for what amounts to basic wooden frames.


Places to find good tatami, much like websites that sell any quality japanese good made and shipped from Japan, indeed exist but quite hard to find as they are stuck in a 90's-00's website form and search manner. Bullshit search engines will bury them and instead spam you with chinese bullshit from amazon and the like. So you need other websites or small forums to find them.

I've been sleeping on a 100% cotton futon on a single 200x90 tatami.
It cost me around 400 euros. I have never slept so well in my entire life. Even the 800euros mattress i had before was seriously uncomfortable.

Don't listen to >>17314293, I'm 110KG and can still sleep easily on one. I just turn it around every time i change the sheets to not stress only one side of the futon.

If you've slept on a mattress all your life, sleeping on the futon will feel very stiff at first but give it a week and it will feel natural.
