I'm sitting about 2 meters away.
The bottom left is my laptop for comparison.
Fureraba is open for comparison, this is the normal size it opens on regular display if you were to open it on your computer.

I can barely see my the text for my home screen icons but the documents folder text is fine.

Planetariam is about 1040p, it became bigger on it's own..
I really recommend playing on fullscreen.

I dunno. I know this stuff happens, but that girl's relationship with the protag was always pretty equal, which means any of them being the "aggressor" works. I wouldn't analyze this too much.
Completely aside of those just being random extra scenes. Which the random absolutely nonsensical threesome should tell you. It's not in the normal story for a reason. It's just an official fanfiction or whatever.

the photo quality of my phone is bad, I'm about 2 meters away and you can't even read the icon font still even then you can easily read the font on the VN. So there's that.

Things look amazing full-screen So I'm not too sure why you wouldn't want it.
>>
>>17248025
There are window resizer tools.
>>
>>17248035
I know there is but I'm talking about what the VN looks normally comparing it to other things he would normally have. Those icons are the same size of what they would look like on a normal display being 1080p..

Fureraba is about 1040p.
Planetariam is about 1040p
Putting in full-screen obviously looks better though.
However you can still see it despite the text being small.

Does anybody know the agth code to light's imitation lover 2006 edition? It should be different from 2008 edition of the game and i've found only working download for 2006 edition.
>>

Try getting somebody's agth, they tend to collect codes so with one that's been exposed to a ton of stuff you get those codes too.

>Things look amazing full-screen So I'm not too sure why you wouldn't want it.

I'm someone else, but I tend to not read full-screen, because things don't look amazing. It looks like shit. And I have a 1080p screen.
Fullscreen only really looks okay-ish if the game offers some filters (bicubic) for resizing or there are native higher res images available. Full 1080p support is obviously the only really good looking stuff.

VNs just scale terribly, for the most part. Nothing you can do about. The best thing is really to lower the resolution of your screen, as that's usually looking better than letting VNs scale themselves. As sad as that sounds. Of course people also have different needs and some may be fine with the normal scaling of VNs, but I'm not. It's just.. blurry.

I definitely dont think so, they have many great games imo but their last two games were bad so I'm a little suspicious about this one as well.

This and Kami-sama game are the best titles so far for this year.

By the way, one of Chronobox themes is " women are cruel creatures "

This game describes women's ugly side and nature pretty well. And here I thought rape is the worst thing a man can do.
>>
>>17249576
It's less females and more fucked up people in general their other personalities were fucking insane and sadistic, and not all were women.

Funny how both of those have quite a bit negative resonance as well, especially Kami-sama game. I actually never heard much positive about that one.

That's literally the opposite of what I've heard. That everything else is pretty great as long as you can get past the art. (as long as you're expecting that they're moege/pure love, except Koitate as far as I'm aware?) Except I guess like a lot of companies their latest titles have lacked compared to their older ones? I've never played any myself but I plan to play a few.

>>
>>17249984
I actually played almost all of their games, I dont know other companies but yeah AXL's lastest two or three games were pretty bad.

With bad I mean the heroine routes, the common route part which most of stuff get cleaned up is still acceptable as an AXL game. But heroine routes are literally terrible in those recent titles.
>>
>>17250284
How would you rank them / which are your favorites?
>>
>>17250297
Well first of all I have to say that their games are not "amazingly good" or "perfect" etc, just nice imo. Also as I said at above; they have their own style of writing in their games. "The main issue", the point of the game always get cleaned up at the common route, mc and heroines get really familiar while doing it and at that point most of girls are already in love with mc. In heroine routes you're getting deeper of heroines and solving their personal problems. I had to point this out since I know some people dont like that type of games.

My personal favorite AXL game is Racial Merge since somehow that game made me love their "very donkan" protagonist, a archetype which I really hate at normal standards. Also every heroines are very cute, you have a blind maid - a cheerful slave - delinquent princess - a stonic teacher and a villager. Its literally a "racial merge" and serves the main point of the game very well.

Other than that Hyakka Ryouran Elixir is a very good title which have the Medieval Theme in it, if you like that kind of thing definitely check it out.

Itokano, Princess Frontier and Like a bulter are also worth of trying games imo but since all of them have the similiar "AXL game" feeling I dont think you can play them one after the other.

>>
>>17250366

>>
>>17250408
I'd recommend it, good phonecalls aren't used enough in eroge.
>>
>>17250414
Yeah koitate is their most popular and probably most liked game for sure. I didnt mention it since most of people here must have already heard it and it has somehow a different feeling than all other AXL games.

The second one is just milking tho, I didn't enjoy it at all and wont suggest it even though it has the same protag with the first game. Just play the original and ignore the sequel if you are going to get koitate train imo.
>>
>>17250366

Will it have one of those events where you can get your stuff signed or get special goods?
>>
>>17252836
>abysmal
>70

No. A 70 can still easily be "wtf, why is this dev doing all-ages yuri now?!?" or similar idiotic things. In fact a review in vndb mentions a super buggy system. That can and will influence ratings. Haruka Kanata seems to be one of those examples.

But, well, it's available in English, so it should be very easy to find out, how the game is.
>>
>>17252987
I noticed I end up liking a bunch of 70s. They're decent games it's not bad.

70 should be a decent. 50 should be okay.
The ruling system is fucked.
Where anything not an 80 isn't worth playing.
>>
>>17253003
I've gone as low as 70 in EGS and it was crap.
Then again, even in the 80s I've found really shitty stuff.
>>
>>17253021
I don't read anything that has less than a perfect 100 and at least 10,000 votes.
>>
>>17252987
I haven't seen a game to date with 70 or lower that was worth playing (about 74~ seems to be the cutoff range for potentially decent stuff in my experience) and if you factor in the 6 writers, the main writer having never worked on a game before or after again as well as the reviews calling the scenario bad I don't see why this would be an exception.
>>
>>17253030

One of my favorite routes of all time is in a 69 game. I know, most 70ish games suck, but again, that can happen for almost all reasons. System, length, whatever the dev did before..

You say people say, that the scenario is bad. That's not necessarily true though. The dev did VERY different things before in some ways, so people being a little pissed at that and just calling the story terrible isn't so weird.
It's kinda how people in the west started to bash the Atelier series once it changed back its gameplay to what it was at first. But the Arland trilogy isn't bad. (aside of vanilla Rorona) In fact, it's probably the best Atelier available in English. It's different, yes, but most certainly not bad.

In this case we are also talking about stories. That's VERY much a matter of taste. Which is why I mentioned the English release. People have had much less exposure to whatever the dev did before and people bought it mostly, because they were interested in that game itself, and not "the dev" or whatever.
As for all the authors, that can mean something, but doesn't need to. Not all games just have all listed writers write x lines without talking to each other. I mean, even Chaos Child has 5 writers or so, and people tend to like the game.
>>
>>17253054
>One of my favorite routes of all time is in a 69 game.
Curious.
>>
>>17253021
>>17253030
The scoring system is messed up,
it's just saying if a majority of people like something chances are you might too.

Also it depends on the people who read it.
Some like to be contrarians and judge a sweet simple story by a well known company really harshly for while some not that well known works could get more slack and avoid these contrarians.

The scoring system needs work too.
Let's say a vn has an amazing story but has poor ero and art.
Chances are it would still get a better score than a vn that's decent all around including nice art and ero.
It's really just favorites in the end.

Some people even give 0s to affect the overall score for kicks too.
Like White album 2 has 0s and people just commenting and saying that they would just like a lower score.
The first tokeijikake game is like 75 yet people here seem to love it.

It's better to find people who like the same stuff you do.
>>
>>17253054
What game?
A couple I like, like Panical Confusion, Hatsukoi Syndrone and Moyoeru futari have low scores but they're decent.

Most of the comments were just people being let down or expecting too much.
>>
>>17253067
0s tend to cancel with blatant fanboyism 100s and stema pretty well though.
>The first tokeijikake game is like 75 yet people here seem to love it.

That's assuming they are fanboys for those games.

There's games I like but I'm sure wouldn't have vicious fanboys as they are just above average. Yet people come in with high expectations and rate it poorly.

Pic somewhat related, this brings down the overall score, because some guy was trying to be funny, it affects decent not that well games more than popular ones.
>>
>>17253114
That's just low number of votes. Also that guy might genuinely think the game is terrible, nothing wrong with it.
>>
>>17253054
> One of my favorite routes of all time is in a 69 game
I like nukiges and think they are scored unfair too.
>>
>>17253130
Please tell me you're joking.
Normally I would agree the absolute worst of games would get 0s and
I get not liking the game but given how scores reflect people opinions of games and how the rating system heavily leans towards 80 on being decent. 0 really does the game injustice.
7 is barely passable and some consider it not worth playing or bad.
I repeat 7 is the cutoff.
Something that should be 5 (passable or not too good not too bad).

Giving something a 0 should be considered a grudge or something uncalled for, a basic troll answer.
The 0 answers I found are just filled with hate for the game, or just troll answers, like a guy linking to his own account and nothing else or calling it denpa as his reason for 0.
>>
>>1725322
Just adding on.

I wouldn't even give my most hated VNs a 0.
Maybe before when 5 was average but i can't now without looking like I have a grudge rather than a personally opinion that something is a bad game.

>>
>>17253229
People rate differently. Most people have no idea how to rate a game and have inflated votes, including you apparently. Maybe that guy knows the proper use of the 0-100 scale and just considers the game that bad. Nothing weird about it. I gave several well liked games 0-30 ratings, not out of a "grudge" but simply because I thought they were that bad compared to other stuff I've read.
>>
>>17253273
Some people might just try balance out a rating system by voting low like on metacritc.
>>
>>17253273
Sure i can get behind that but when your reason is, just linking to your account profile or just making a comment like
www I don't think that justifies as a proper legit score.

>Maybe that guy knows the proper use of the 0-100 scale and just considers the game that bad
That guy's reason was just a snarky response. Not legit reason.

If you still vote thinking 0 is a legit normal bad score you are doing an disservice to the games you vote for, when most people consider a 6 a legit bad normal score, you are going far and beyond.

Like I said previously I would normally agree 0 is a terrible game but now giving 0 to a game is like giving a 14 to a good game. It just doesn't work and you need to adjust to the rating system.
You would normally be correct otherwise.

I even mess up and give scores like 6 or 7 to games I actually liked and 4 for games that are kinda bad, and realize I have to scale them up to match other's rating system.
>>
>>17253328
> Like I said previously I would normally agree 0 is a terrible game but now giving 0 to a game is like giving a 14 to a good game. It just doesn't work and you need to adjust to the rating system.
Why should someone care about trivial things like that? People just vote without putting too much thought in it, it's not really that important on a global scale anyway.

I mean you have demos unlike normal video games that don't really have demos. So you can't put the whole try before you buy excuse. If people want to try something they can play the demo.

Of course not every score is legit, but that's not the argument. The argument is that it's perfectly fine to make use of the entire scale, or rather, that's the way it should be.
>when most people consider a 6 a legit bad normal score
Why would you care about that? Those people are straight up retarded, and scores are your own, not other peoples. It's your opinion you can voice in any way you see fit.
>and realize I have to scale them up to match other's rating system.
Yeah that's... dumb. I instantly skim over people who overrate everything so I'd never take your opinion on anything seriously.

A large majority of people act like this.
Even in this thread by people who don't touch a 7 or consider a 7 bad.
>>
>>17253432
>it's a disservice to games.
No it's not. You just created this concept in your head out of thin air.
>A large majority of people act like this.
"A large majority of people" is not "I" last time I checked. Thus, irrelevant. It's your opinion, not that of the "large majority".
>Even in this thread by people who don't touch a 7 or consider a 7 bad.
Depends who gave it. A 70 on EGS is on the worse end, because as said, the votes there are inflated. If someone I trust gives a game a 7 I will most likely give it a shot. That's why you read reviews and check peoples profiles; do they give out 70s on a daily basis or is it a once every few months thing? etc.
>>
>>17253453
It's a disservice to games as most people consider 80 a good score. Anything under is passable or bad. It's not me lots of place consider this almost every gaming website I know thinks like this, my opinion changed by seeing all these places that viewed things as such.

People like you rate video games and give 50s to average games and consider 70s above average.
I used to do this too, but now video games and things in general 70 or 60 is a bad score.
By giving a score of 70 to a good game many people who consider 80 a good game would think of the 70 as shit or mediocre.

That's how it is a disservice.
I normally would give good games 70 but now if I were to do that I would get responses like this.
>>17252836
>>17252987

It's not just me.
Take a look at tv cooking shows where they rate food, a 7 is considered could do better or not really acceptable, and 8 is good.

Games like Masseffect androdyma are considered horrible and a flop yet get 60s and 70s and people laugh at their scores.
I repeat they laugh and mock it. 70 is a bad score to gamers.
People got Angry and Dossed reviewers for giving 70s to games like BOTW, they considered 70 a bad score.

Giving 70 to anything is a bad score in the current year. If you said it was a good score 10 years ago I'd believe you but that really isn't the case now.

Feel free to continue thinking like that but the truth is, tv, film, video games almost all major reviewers think like this now.
People aim for the stars now. 70 isn't really acceptable.
>>
>>17253422
>>17253374
All that means is that you're demolishing the average of every game you vote on that's mediocre, whereas equally mediocre games you haven't played get a free pass. People try to use average scores to see what the consensus is and that requires that most people be on the same page.
>>
>>17253522
The chart at the bottom should be all red. Anyone who puts blind faith in another man's taste to any degree is sheeple of the worst kind. What a good review can accomplish is tell you what that person liked or didn't like about it, so a well-written review giving a 1/10 to a game or a movie because the reviewer hated it might actually motivate you to check it out as often happens with guys like Ebert, for instance whose taste in movies may suck cock but he can elaborate it well, which is all that counts.

It's bad ---relatively---, as said already. Yeah if one of those garbage gaming sites gives it out it's bad. If someone who is reasonable gives that out it might be one of the best games in years. The difference is that I don't care for the opinions of the former, and I will actively ignore everything they put out. If you literally can't stand for your own opinion and feel like "adjusting" your scores up to follow the trends of bottomfeeders I have no interest in any of your views frankly.
>>
Pardon my ignorance but how much of the later lance games are gameplay, and how difficult is the gameplay? Is it just some in between stuff or is it the main focus of the game?

>>

>>
>>17253607
> if one of those garbage gaming sites gives it out it's bad
It's most gaming sites like metacritic, IGN almost all, including EGS.

>If you literally can't stand for your own opinion and feel like "adjusting" your scores up to follow the trends of bottomfeeders I have no interest in any of your views frankly.

My score reflects my opinion.
Tell me, if things were color coded and Green for good and red for bad. If you wanted to show you liked a game you'd pick green, right?
Same with scores.
Normally 7 is a good score, however to most people they might miss out what I mean when I say a game is a seven, it's above average it's a good game. However giving it a 7 makes others think I don't think much of it.
As such I would have to push up my score to better reflect what I feel about the game.

Sure you might be different however most people think otherwise.
You might be giving a slight green while people are looking for green or red.
If you want to keep putting 7s be my guest, but just know that your opinion of the game would be lost in translation.
I want people to know my opinion if you don't want to follow it go for it.

Sorry if it's an obvious question but how exactly would you specify the difference between Denpa and a fucked up world or a story where most of the cast is crazy?
Are they all just Denpa?

Like Higurashi where the world isn't mad but the people are going mad
Would Danganronpa be one?
As everybody loves killing, despair and enjoy the art of killing, murder and so on to the point of insanity and obsession.
The people who don't are brainwashed to not like it, however they normally did and that's why danganronpa exists.

If you have to spoiler tag it, that's the answer to your question. "Denpa" is not a sudden reveal or twist, it's the 趣 of a work. For the most part everyone acts "normal" (as in, non-denpa, the cast is obviously a little crazy) in DGR during the main game and it's only revealed in a short bit towards the end what's up with the crew.
>>
>>17253945
A lot of the non-main cast as well as the main cast act like that to begin with.
Pretty the entire world is insane other than freedom fighters, and most of the main cast end up going insane too or were fucked to being with.
Still I guess it's more like an overall theme, thanks.

>Do you guys justify torrenting?
I don't justify it, I just do it. Welcome to RL aka real life where everyone's at each other's throats whenever you leave your house. A good VN business will try to rip off every yen off their customer if that serves their profit goal, so why shouldn't I do the same. Doujins are a different story but they sell their shit for pennies anyway - it's more time-efficient to just buy it instead of bothering to search for dl links.
>>
Scores are an indication of quality, not an indication of how good a VN is relative to other VNs. Very few pieces of media are actually legitimately terrible. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are the Kantai Collection anime (which some people still liked for some unknowable reason) and a few unknown OELVNs.

If something has good art OR writing OR music, it's not like calling it "legitimately terrible" makes a lot of sense on an objective scale. The worst I can give a VN that has at least one good quality throughout is a 4/10 for exactly that reason. The music is the only reason I don't consider Umineko completely unreadable 2/10 would not commit to memory. And so on.

By human nature, at least half of pieces of media in a given medium are going to not be legitimately terrible.

>>
>>17254003
How so? It's not really denpa maybe until the twist at the very end. Madness isn't the theme of the work from the beginning, it's a similar case to >>17253945. Fairytale Requiem on the other hand, which has a similar setting and art and music surely give more of a vibe of madness, explicitly says in the very synopsis that everyone is fucked in the head, but it isn't tagged as denpa. As someone else said, I think it's a feeling you can identify once you've played enough denpa games. Knowing some cultural background may help. But it's ambiguous and in the denpa thread there are fights about it all the time.
>>
>>17254756
The denpa is right there from the first hour. Remember when you find the box and Amami is happy, then in the next frame suddenly she makes that scary face asking you if you looked inside? Or when you ask her what's inside it in the hallway and suddenly she has her mood change again saying she saw someone behind you? -That- is the essence of denpa. People acting in strange and inexplicable ways.
>>
>>17254360
>If something has good art OR writing OR music, it's not like calling it "legitimately terrible" makes a lot of sense on an objective scale.
Depends on how important those are for you, good art or good music alone can't carry a whole game and if it just fails in every single level but one of those, it's perfectly fine to call it legitimately terrible, because it is.
Suigetsu 2 for example, that game is absolute trash on every single level but having decent art for the most part, but I'd struggle to not give it a 0, because it really deserves it and considering it's meant to be a spiritual sequel to suigetsu I wish it could give it a negative score.
>>
>>17254834
Makes sense. Although I still think the game is missing a lot of imagery and ambience that for example popular denpa games like Shizuku and SayoOshi have, that make up the whole denpa vibe.
>>
>>17254756
I've played one or two games with great art and music but absolutely terrible writing, and well, I never finished them. Fuck that shit.
Writing > everything else. A game with shitty production values can be enjoyable if it has great writing, but a games with shitty writing can't be enjoyable no matter how good the assets are. Obviously doesn't apply if you're only playing a game for the porn.

>>
>>17253522
Don't worry anon most of us here know that you're right. In a perfect world, we could rate games like the top scale, but since 90% of idiots use the bottom scale, I don't want people to think I rated games I thought were quite good as poor games, so I end up as one of those idiots as well. From looking at how people rate things over the years I can see that most people seem to do it this way. The question is only how many people do it that way of their own volition versus the ones who are forced into it.

It is even worse in stuff like anime. On MAL a show with a 7.00 is generally pretty shit. 8 is pretty good and 9 is masterpiece tier. Anything below 7 is usually unbearably bad. I don't want people thinking a show I thought was decent is trash, so shows usually get rated a point or two higher than they deserve by me.
>>
>>17255139
The problem is you caring about those idiots who think that way though. Why does it matter if they misunderstand your personal rating, or why do you even want to interact with them? Also if it bugs you that much you can just write something like "6=GOOD 7=GREAT" or whatever into your profile. I saw quite a few people do this on EGS actually.
>>
>>17255179
>Why does it matter if they misunderstand your personal rating
If you don't give a shit what other people think why even bother submitting a rating? The vast majority of people will only ever see your score in aggregate.
>>
>>17255139

For VNs I don't even vote anymore. If I would, most wouldn't be above 7/10, because of typical VN issues. There's just no way in hell I'd like all routes a lot in most works. Heroines are literally created in a way, that everyone likes one or two. But while some just vote on whatever they played and/or liked, I'd rather not. I like reviews more. Numbers for the whole thing do so little.

Still, I look too much at EGS numbers myself as well. In a way, there's little else I can do, as there's just so much out there. On the other hand I feel I shouldn't look too much on them.

That said, a BIG reason why a lot of ratings are inflated is that people tend to drop works they don't like and as such not rate them. MAL doesn't even count ratings, where people dropped too early. It's the reason, why some really long shows are actually overrated, because they want like.. 20%(?) watched before they count it. Maybe a little less. So Gintama for example isn't actually that highly regarded, but it simply ignores people who haven't watched at least like 30-40 episodes. Which is REALLY not correct either. It's the same reason why sequels are generally rated higher as well on MAL, as only people who liked the first season or whatever would watch it.
So yeah, it's not strange, that ratings for something not too good are around 7/10. You should still be honest though. If you aren't even honest about your votes, then what purpose do they have? Ratings may look, to an extend, like they do because people vote weirdly. But unlike with reviews, that's not all.
>>
>>17255189
Correction: I don't give a shit about what the aforementioned idiots think. They can misunderstand or put a dildo in their ass all they want, I don't care nor do they affect me. There are plenty of normal like-minded people out there that know a 6 isn't literally puke inducing and can even be a pretty enjoyable title. I've put plenty of titles in my backlog that were rated "only" a 6 but the review made sound cool.
>>
Ratings are very irrelevant unless they go together with a written review and can be divided into sections (picture, voice acting, story, fap falue...).
>>
>>17255212
>You should still be honest though. If you aren't even honest about your votes, then what purpose do they have?

The thing is they ARE honest within the context of how most people rate these things. When you hang around these communities for years, you get a good idea of what certain aggregate ratings mean. If VNs with a 6 are essentially lower than trash, I'm not going to rate something I thought was decent a 6 in that context.
>>
>>17255368

You should though. Again, a VN at 6 isn't trash because everyone voted 6=trash. It's (probably) trash because a ton of people dropped it and those few who actually read enough to bother rating it STILL weren't very happy with it. It's actually quite an achievement. (One of the reasons, why I want to try out Eternal's newest title as some point, because I can't think how the heck that's supposed to be so much worse than their other games, which for the most part were already bad)

Don't compare your vote with what an AVERAGE rating means. That's two completely different things. Just like your own 10/10 has nowhere near the same meaning as an average 10/10, your 6/10 also doesn't mean anything near an average 6/10.

Basically, a 10/10 on average is insane, to the point it basically doesn't exist. Your own 10/10 is likely to exist for at least a few works.
Same with a 6/10. On average that's an insane thing, because most people don't even read something meh so long, that they end up rating it. So an average 6/10 is in nowhere comparable to your own 6/10. This may sound a bit weird, because if you rate a 6/10 work with 6/10, you are "average", but in fact your rating is anything but that. Because the whole "not rated at all because it was too bad" people still exist. They are very big reason, why a 6/10 has such a bad reputation.

Average ratings are fun things. They don't have the same meaning as an individual rating. This is btw. different with professional reviews. Those guys get paid for reviewing pretty much everything out there, so the whole "was bad, dropped, not rated" isn't really happening. Though that's just a theory. Even those sites or whatever aren't doing all games (obviously) and things get messy, no matter what. Though of course there are other things at work as well. (i.e. rpgfan probably has rpg fans reviewing stuff, which is fine, but will mean they are positively biased towards the genre.. just like their readers. So their rating is expected to be higher than when some random other site is putting their shooter fan on the newest Atelier game)
But, well, this is, again, why numbers suck. It's easy and fast to look at metacritic or whatever, but it's really not telling you anything.

>>17257223
1kb=1minute is an average for normally voiced works. Relatively short works on EGS are close to that (i.e. Leyline), while my own experience is also along those lines.

For longer works, EGS numbers are getting lower, because more people drop it, read less routes or just start skimming/skipping stuff. It's why you usually take mb, as it's more accurate. For example Akatsuki no Goei 2 is 1.5 times as long as the first one (if you read everything), but has 24h average, while the first one has 20h.
The only problem is, you never know how people calculate that, as there's no standard. Noratoto is ~1.5 mb without nametags, but ~1.8mb with nametags as far as I remember. And then, how do you treat linebreaks? So yeah, while more accurate, you still should only consider it a rough estimate.

>Unfinished as in the story ends on a cliffhanger and there's no continuation?
Yes. Not the anon you replied to, but I only played the first one and while it solves its own main drama, it ends on an additional surprise sequel hook with a message that's basically "wait for おわりのクオリア mate" and the second game supposedly does the exact same thing. The first and second game take place at the same time from perspectives of different pair of characters and the originally planned third game was probably supposed to wrap up both.

If you do end up playing them nonetheless make sure to patch them first since there's no sprites, nearly not enough CGs to compensate and you'd normally spend the majority of time with just BGs. Post release patch added these small bubbles.
>>
>>17257586

Without spoiling too much, symphony is pretty much a "what if" story. There's really no point in playing it before Requiem and Encore.

There are new laws to regulate downloads of porn. Basically, people waste too much bandwidth for fapping, and that's becoming a problem as important things lack available bandwidth for fast transfer.
People get a certain porn-rate assigned which the provider automatically assigns and regulates.

I should sell this as a story idea to softhouse-seal. The nukige writes itself from there.

I found the exact problem. Some of the backgrounds in the game are 1600x4800 pixels large, and directdraw is throwing an "invalid argument" error when the game goes to ask ddraw to make the surface buffer for them. The only way out is to downscale those backgrounds or to use https://fdossena.com/?p=wined3d/index.frag (terrible website warning). wined3d is kind of buggy and you have to use the staging version.

The closest you can usually call it is "alice in wonderland inspired". Vndb has that as a tag, but I think it's only used for really obvious examples and not something that's, for example like "humanity has declined" (LN/anime) or Flip Flappers (anime). And I guess not ALL surreal stuff is really that Alice in Wonderland inspired. Mononoke (anime) for example is a bit iffy there. And something like Lain (again anime..) being all cyberpunk may also go a bit too far away.

Anyway, for VNs I can only say: Check out Liarsoft. (i.e. Inganock) Outside of their stuff there won't be much surreal, let alone good surreal. Maybe Hapymaher, but that's under vndb's "wonderland" tag anyway, so you'd find it easily. And it's not THAT surreal either.

Now, denpa and such are also there, but they go into a bit of a different direction I think. If I hear "surreal", I don't think of Higurashi, for example. (Even though it's denpa)
>>
>>17258953
A couple of routes in supreme candy would qualify a bit, but not much outside of LS as >>17259056 said.

Done with Gangsta Republica. Kinda.

The first stage is your typical eroge. Unfortunately nothing really happens. That's fine and all if it's at least a little funny, but for the most part the game has no real aim and it's just.. there. The romance is essentially not existing and there's no route climax or anything either. It's just ending. Here you also collect all ero-scenes.

The second stage is unlocked... somehow. This starts with a good amount of more nothing and is not really a sequel or anything. It's weird. This has "vs." routes, where two of the heroines are going at each other for whatever reason at the end. This wouldn't be so bad, if it'd not be after so many hours of nothing. It also feels like it turns things out of character. I've only done one route here, as I don't see the point anymore. Why did this exist as a separate stage? None of the two stages really feel complete.

The game wants to be a little philosophic, but mostly fails to do so until the very very end of the second stage. One of the main-reasons for that is a certain character, who just eliminates what could've been philosophic before. She essentially destroys the main-idea before and swaps it for boredom. Unfortunate. Though I don't even consider this character bad. She's the childhoodfriend, and a very "accurate" one at that. You want her to fucking piss off. She's annoying. She's SO FUCKING annoying. But that's alright, because she's the childhoodfriend. Unfortunately she's also a heroine, and that makes things crumble.
Something went wrong here. I think the author wanted to do something, but it got kinda lost in the puddle of nothingness and thanks to the childhoodfriend. Was still kinda worth for Imai Asami voicing the main-heroine. That girl was also best girl which helped. (although the sister had better screenshot lines)
>>
>>17259480
I remember hearing some really bad things about this game but I'm not sure what it was exactly. Something about the routes. Nishimura is a pretty good writer (guy behind Furuiro) but apparently the other one sucks really bad.

>>
>>17259525
the only good motonaga is sense off tbqh
>>
>>17259526

The game feels incredibly incomplete in a lot of ways. As much as I love the true route, the one other route I played was just flat out weird at the end. It didn't resolve anything and made rather little sense as well. I actually enjoyed it till the final part though. The game is kinda fun in that it turns around a bunch of things. So in that route you kinda fight to get the girl, so she doesn't go to her "onee-sama", more or less. Usually the girls fight over the protagonist, and not the protagonist to get a girl. And it's a setting where the protag is the outsider. Quite heavily so.

Well, I suppose you could say, the game is generally not very friendly to the typical eroge reader. Not just because of pure yuri. It's not afraid to make you feel like utter shit. In addition to that the "role reversal" thing (there's something else like that in the true route as well) and one of the most punchy endings I know won't make me forget that game too soon. Me liking yuri, and there being essentially almost only shit yuri VN out there if you ask me, obviously help as well.
>>
>>17259803
Any reason why you claim to like yuri and enjoy the other route up until the end, and yet didn't read any of the other routes? I can see the issue with Yuu's route's ending, but it's not like all the side routes are like that.

I finished White Album 2 IC. Overall, I thought it was very great. never really read much stuff that did love triangles seriously, (most of the stuff i've read just did love triangles as a sort of trivial thing that gets resolved/ignored, or it's treated as a joke), but WA2's drama was nice. Thinking back on it, i don't think i could actually pin the source of the drama and problems to one specific person, it really felt like all sides of the party had fucked up somewhat, quite interesting to see.

Favorite character is by far Setsuna, though, the idea for her character is pretty interesting and i can't wait to see what happens with her in the Closing Chapter. She seems to be the most mentally unstable out of the main three, at least in my opinion. Kind of ironic considering that she has the most stable home life out of the main trio, too.

I've been thinking for a while about what I would have done if I were in Haruki's shoes, and at the end of the day, I think he acted pretty reasonably. I don't think I would have fallen as head over heels over Kazusa as much as he did, though.

One thing they could do is create a <fade to black> implying people had sex without actually showing it?
Or show sex without doing it in a porn way, like it's done in non-porn books and movies. Make it tasteful PG erotica or realistic = sex the way it is IRL aka probably not sexy at all to an outside observer.
The worst is how it's actually done, e.g. FSN remakes replaced it with sleeping together without sex (? more like Shirou getting blue balls) or some stupid vampire shit (???) in FHA.

The only game I know of where the sex scene was important and removed was the original Shuffle! with Primula's final scene where she erases Rin's memory while they're having sex.

It was replaced with an original CG scene of her kissing Rin while erasing his memory in much the same way.

In Princess Evangile after the sex was removed they added new scenes, such as waking up next to Ritsuko or cuddling Rise. Despite the fact that the sex was unimportant they were given as a bonus for those who bought the all ages version of the game. The protagonist still has sex with the girls and the discussion of sex is still present in the game, the scenes themselves were simply skipped.

Somehow Masada's long action scenes are able to go on for much longer without getting overwhelming, though.

Depressing how both endings so far are bittersweet at best. If I understand correctly, at the end of Kasumi's route Ren is a vegetable, and the world is fucked anyway. At the end of Kei's route, they seemingly only managed to delay Dies Irae, essentially thanks to Kasumi managing to impress Craft.

I played only one other game by them, not trap, and also only to see why people shit on them so much. I doubt anyone could play more than a route of that and stay sane. It was so... safe and typical it was weird.

That said, as far as I know they have 2 good games, one trap, one not. Kinda makes sense, seeing how they have around the same amount of trap and not trap games.

What a slut. I don't really like going straight to ai. Feels like it cheapens it a bit.
>>
>>17263444
Well the game presents her as lazy, she uses piss bottle rather than going to the bathroom that's how lazy she is, but she's your osanajimi and has a clear crush on you.

However,
It's clear obsession though, like close to yandere levels, she sniffs and kisses your clothes, drinks your bath water, threatens to expel students for getting close to you, has a doll of you that she masturbates too.
The reason she pisses in front of you is becasue she's trying a bunch of stuff to seduce you and through that, you would see her beauty or would sexually assault her if she presented herself like that.
Yes I'm serious she's fucking crazy.
This game is crazy.

There are some sweet moments though.
Also, the mc fails as a guy and when he acts like a guy it's done in incredibly bad taste, he's an amazing girl though

>>
>>17263497
Honestly I feel like context makes it better. If she's an osananajimi then she's known him for a long time so it seems more acceptable. And that shit seems kind of hot to be honest. I'm not in to traps at all but I might give that game a go to play her route (assuming there is one).
>>
>>17263514
>>17263531
I normally like mcs with personality, and he's an amazing character however as a girl.
He's a mother-like character, kind, speaks in teineigo, great cook, cleans, really smart, strong to take on thugs twice his size, athletic and fit, is kinda shikkari but panics and gets flusters which is really adorable.

He's an idealized girl but a guy.

His onsajimi is crazy for him, his kouhai loves him and calls him her oneesama and other girls follow suit, he gets proposed to and everybody considers him an ideal future wife or the ideal women, and I sort of agree given his qualities.

However, to show how he's a guy, sometimes he does the generic 'kawaii...' when he sees a girl doing something cute. It just breaks character, as he would normally do dokidokishichatta or something.
I'm convinced it's another writer and they replaced his whole character with a generic mc. This happens a few times though, the other times he doesn't break character and does what he normally would do.

>>17263537
I ironically liked traps before this game but grew to love the mc in this.
I don't think other traps do it for me.

Kazari's route is really fleshed out, with her confession being early but them going out after the mc realised he has feelings for her which took a long time.

I prefer Hinata as a character more though, as her route involves identity, conforming to social norms, loneliness, losing friends, and existentialism. Which really surprised me, as I thought it would just be chuuni stuff.

Haven't done the other girl but know she wears t-backs and takes anal like a bitch.

Don't bother, the route is shit. It's one of those 500kb routes where nothing happens and if anything seems to happen, they backpedal to the status quo.

Honestly, the girls in that game suck. The chuuni one is acceptable and her route isn't suffering from the issues of the "main" heroine, but I feel like you can only really like this if you are into traps, or rather this specific trap.

I actually kinda agree the girls aren't too great other than Hinata but she kinda pushed aside, and in other route when she has a crush on you she feels sad and knows you won't pick her.
Yuzu is just for sex, and anal if you're into that.

This has been well known for tens of thousands of years. The reason is simple, care for young aids evolution. So women receive pleasure from having babies suck their nipples, or anything else for that matter. It's almost as much pleasure as getting dicked.

>>
>>17264630
Not liking the extreme like diaper or actually acting like a baby, but erotic breastfeeding is a huge turn on for me, especially if the girl also giving the MC handjob while sucking if he's as tall/taller than her, or fucking while sucking if he's short enough or a shota. Double down if she actually lactates (although I hate how H scenes with lactation mostly having the MC making the girl wasting the breast milk by squeezing and spraying it all over the place instead of drinking it).
>>
>>17265226
And finished. I'm always amazed by this production quality, I feel AoKana has some of the best care and polish of any VN ever. The art, music and little animations are all rich, plentiful and very well done. The romance is really nicely portrayed, with a good mixture of funny comedy, relaxing comfy, and sweet romantic scenes. A bit disappointing there was no FC, looking forward to seeing some in Misaki's fandisk. Otherwise it was arguably better than Mashiro's original route.

The parts I enjoyed the most were of course every scene with Asuka in them though. She's the absolute cutest and best, her gentle clumsiness always providing the best humour and her friendly positiveness the best inspiration, her smile the brightest and her laugh the most soothing. Every moment I got with her was pure bliss.

So how was this? Mainly curious about brown and red
>>
I have this weird issue.
When I read, I want to absorb as much of the story as possible and as fast as possible. At times I wish I could just skim past and get the important things I want to know.

However when I finish or get near the end I get sentimental thinking of how long I spent and got to know the characters and I want to continue the story.

Does this happen to anybody else?

It's like I just want to know what happens but near the end, I regret and want to spend more time with the characters.
Even for things like shows I sometimes play it at 2x speed to just absorb the story faster but feel bad near then end as the characters are gone.
>>
>>17267470
>Even for things like shows I sometimes play it at 2x speed
Sounds like autism.
>>
>>17267475
2x speed is pretty low level autism

there is a guy that watches anime by seeking forward whenever he finishes reading a subtitle or there isn't one on screen
>>
>>17267470

If I get fast, that's usually because I stopped caring to a certain amount. Once ctrl is in play, it's pretty much over.
That said, I never felt bad about it, with the exception of one VN. I read that with assuming it'd be not that good and I mostly wanted to know how it does its thing. (Tototo, the threesome romance thingy) In the end I realized, how much I liked some of the voice-actors and felt a bit bad about skipping so much of the voice-acting. But that's about it. There are enough other VNs out there with great voice performances.
>>
>>17267638
What if you miss cricial plot points or something funny?
I don't press ctrl for this reason.
>>
>>17267880
Critical plot points are accompanied by fitting serious music before, normally.
>>
>>17267888
The music takes a while to kick in and sometimes the side bar for the track name might even take a while too.
Do you just periodically press ctrl then?
>>
>>17267900
>The music takes a while to kick in
Most times skipping the cut is kinda abrupt and nowadays you can jump back whole scenes.
>>
>>17267916
Right forgot about that
>>
>>17266037
The worst fucking decision right there.
Dad's gutter trash and I wish Yuura had given him the bat
>>
>>17267880

If I ctrl, it's pretty much the equivalent of "dropped". You still see somewhat what's going on, and if something seems interesting enough, you can usually get into it again. Thanks to VNs being so padded, they probably tell you soon whatever happened before anyway...

And in the rare case it doesn't, or I overskip something.. you can load a save. But again, ctrl is essentially a "this is really not fun -> skip" thing.

If I still care about plotpoints or something in general, I may skim, but never ctrl. Or just do very short bursts of ctrl I suppose? (similar to most h-scenes, so I don't skip past them)

I think I finally found the best preggo game ever.

5 goddesses + side girls. You fuck each goddess once and they show up at your family's shrine looking 6-8 months pregnant in about a week. They spend the rest of the game pregnant. If they deliver a baby, just fuck them once and make them pregnant again and since they're goddesses they have nothing but daughters that grow up in about another week and you get to fuck your daughters too.

Oh shit, where has this game been all my life? I just plowed one of mine and Vishnu's daughters while her mother is 8-9 months pregnant with her sister. I think I'm going to lose 80 gallons of jizz to this game.

I'd say red has the funnier route while brown has the better story.

Actually, I don't remember much since I only completed red's. The setting is really nice with all the gangs and mafias and whatnot. And the MC isn't your typical MC. The VN itself has a lot of funny moments. Why I only completed red's is just that she was the one who stood out in this not so normal setting and she's a qt

So, I can't get my daughters pregnant can I? At least not that you see them pregnant. I've fucked about 6 of them now and no pregnant daughters scene. Sure, they're probably pregnant off camera but that's a disappointment. Or do I need to fuck the same daughter more than once or something? They get red checkmarks after I fuck one, does the checkmark go away letting you fuck them again after they've had their baby like with their mothers? Or is it more like 'X daughter is pregnant now so you'll have to choose a different daughter to fuck'?

Also why is Astarotte's daughter so stacked? She certainly doesn't look like her mother.
