We're all familiar with the stereotype of the Japanese white collar salaryman working several hours of overtime, not necessarily doing anything productive but just being there to show dedication to the company. I'm assuming this was the way all from the post WWII constitution to present, but is this the case for retail workers, service workers (like social services), and blue collar workers like builders or mechanics?

all the US 60s/Japan 80s nostalgia is essentially yearning to live in countries during their most prosperous economic periods. This can be replicated in modern times by moving to HK or Shanghai.

Are we weebs because we find Japan's economy fascinating or because we think basically everything else is? I think the nostalgia more stems from the fact that we all find 80s-90s Japan cool since it's the birthplace of everything we find cool.

I just wish I could've seen Harajuku in its 90's - 00's glory, because when I went there a few weeks ago there were no Harajuku girls or anything else really odd. It felt like just enough busy shopping district of Tokyo. Even Shinjuku seemed more exotic.
