This is nothing but bullshit.
Dies Irae has a good chunk of entry level dialogue you can find in moege like Magical Charming.
If anything the difficulty is about how much boring can a vn get and in that case I agree chuuni games tend to be more boring.

As of Oct 31st, 2016 it was 100% translated and edited. Half a year later and it's still not out. Are the initial translations and edits so bad that QC takes forever?

It's 70,000 lines long so even at a "professional" pace that's a minimum of like, 4 months for QC. Since it's a fan project, it would be no suprise if QCers go slower than expected. It's regrettable it's not out by now but the dude did say it would take away so this is no surprise.

Root Double Steamspy.png
19KB, 634x468px
Steamspy continues to show a sharp increase for all the titles they included in the bundle (which makes sense since the Bundle is up to 70k bundles sold). For example, here is Root Double's Steamspy performance, which has been jumping considerably each day.

Looking over the titles they included in their bundle, quite a number of them seem like they will benefit from having a large number of people play a given title. A fair number of them either have an upcoming sequel (such as Fault, KaraKara, Memory's Dogma) or upcoming Vita releases (such as Root Double, WEE, Narcissu, and Fault) both of which could stand to gain from a larger base on Steam.

Probably a way shitty question, but I'm sitting on some PSP scripts for To Heart, SG Renri no Darling and Corpse Party 2U.

I am currently translating on the common/Masashi route for To Heart. My friend wants to work on these all, as he is a very capable hacker, but I don't want to sit on all these vns and adv games and let them collect dust if there are other more capable and interested translators for them. I like sims and stuff, but I'm more of a JRPG-kinda kid and would rather work on those.

Also, I don't want to touch them because of zakobot's translations, as I certainly don't want to be accused of ripping off his YT work on each of those, regardless of how notoriously uninterested he is in assisting in translation patches.
>>
>>17163176
>zakobot
He uses machine translations and doesn't speak a word of Japanese. Even an N4 will be able to point this out.
>>
>>17163182

As for SG, if I'm gonna say it, I won't wholeheartedly care for his work either, but it was also from a couple years ago. I can look back on my own work from a couple years ago and cringe hard. I don't pay much attention to his channel, so I can't vouch for whether he's actually improved or not. That all said, it's part of why I'd rather find people who are actually more qualified to work on those games, both as translators and as fans, than I am. I like Mayuri and would tutu her rus for weeks, but I'm no Steins;Gate guru, so I'm hardly qualified to dive into the game.

I still don't want to go about this the wrong way. I'm also not an N1 or anything myself, just self-taught and actively trying to get better. So far I'm going through To Heart quite comfortably, if that says anything.
>>
>>17163176
>if there are other more capable and interested translators for them.
Let me tell you: The answer is no. Very few translators.
>>
>>17163377
I figure as much, but I figured with SG that as long as I do my part and this gets archived people will know where to find me, maybe. I just sincerely don't want to be that guy who fucked up an SG game patch.
>>
>>17163059
I would look at the concurrent players for this week and the next. More than likely everyone will be playing Nekopara, Root Double. Then again they may not and it will fall flat. I highly doubt Sekai did that well on sales considering how mad everyone was about it and put more money towards charity and Humble Bundle.
>>
>>17163878
Most people are too lazy to adjust the sliders. I honestly doubt that many people went out of their way to do so. Maybe more than usual, but that's not saying much.
>>
Hey guys mind giving me feedback for my VN premise?

I will try to make a sci-fi fantasy visual novel that deals with future society and human imagination on a different timeline and in a whole different universe.

Adrian, a maintenance technician at Del Lab, an established company that creates service robots, finds out that something shady is going on at his workplace, sneaks into their development labs and finds weird devices that can transfer made-up data into anyones brain.

Suddenly he gets a vision of a burned and destroyed city, that he does not know about.
Then a red pool of blood enters his vision and he is about to lose it just as...
>>
>>17164014
99% of people don't care or know. Sekai will do pretty well considering most of the audience would have never bought the games to begin with

>>
>>17163878
>I would look at the concurrent players for this week and the next.

Every title on the list, aside from WEE 03 (a second sequel) and the Nekopara titles, have had their peak concurrent user numbers within the past week (exceeding their launches). Most of them have peaked well over 100 concurrent users with KaraKara peaking over 300 concurrent users. Interestingly, it seems you can't get many people to play Japanese School Life even when almost giving it away, it has by far the lowest concurrent user peak of the bunch at 29 (although that beats its launch peak of 11).

>More than likely everyone will be playing Nekopara, Root Double.

A quick look at achievement for their respective games and 44% of owners have started Root Double, while 57% of owners have started KaraKara, Although the percentages are going to be a bit lower when just looking at new buyers since they had higher rate when the bundle started, but not that much lower since the overwhelming majority of both titles were sold through the bundle. Of course a relatively small percentage is likely to finish a longer title like Root Double, but if you look at achievement percentages of other long VNs on Steam, that is usually true.

> I highly doubt Sekai did that well on sales considering how mad everyone was about it and put more money towards charity and Humble Bundle.

They have sold 72k bundles and counting, of that total a very small, negligible percent is going to know anything detailed about Sekai.
>>
>>17164014
>Most people are too lazy

Any proof that they are and not a generalization? 4chan even complained as did most others. I highly doubt Sekai did well, as most that do donate a lot use it for charity than the companies themselves.
>>
>>17163176

MG's just the supplier though. They can't do anything if Light isn't ready to release it.

It is the industry's Kickstarter standard to completely focus on the all-ages version first and release the 18+ patch months later though. So far, Chrono Clock and Libra were the only ones to not do that?

I literally baited this response because japanfags praised Dies Irae so much before it got translated. I have seen comparisons to high literature. And this happens every single time with every single "kamige". And don't even try to pretend that Dies Irae offers any value since the moment it got translated all japanfags backpedaled on their statements regarding the quality of the VN.

Ah, I remember it as clear as if it happened yesterday. I asked japanfags what kind of japan exclusive VN really defines this genre and raises it to heights comparable to masterpieces of other mediums. And the answer was Dies Irae. Not even a short answer, but an elaborate explanation.

>>
>Visual novels are actually really immature medium! All this philosophy and high literature quotes are just shallow window dressing, only included because "it's cool" and don't actually mean or explore anything!?

No shit nigger. Everyone can publish a book nowadays, just check amazon. If anyone imagines he's half good as Chuck Tingle, he'll never waste time on a fucking edgy anime porn game for minuscule manchild audience.
>>
>>17168702
The difference is that a VN can get a pass trough tons of aspects that have nothing to do with writing. The writers are also pretty much always no skill faggots since in japan you don't need education for any job in the entertainment industry.

They grow up on their manga and anime and nowadays even shit like webnovels and just immediately go into writing. The game gets published and there is a good chance that it will sell for its art and setting alone, but even if it doesn't sell, as a writer in a VN you are never judged on your own merits so you can blame any other faggot in the company. And since the nips are not outspoken they won't blame anyone anyway. And everyone in the entire company is just there because they love anime and manga, maybe even low level shit exclusively, so chances are good that there is not even a single guy in the entire company that will give you a heads up.

Depending on your luck you may be directly involved as the writer for well selling games so you have a really good portfolio to get involved with many more games. At some point, no matter how shit you are you have enough years of experience that you will be hired on that merit alone.

I don't know how the japanese consumers criticize VNs. I doubt it's as harsh as in the west. Here the critiques will rip you a new asshole so you may unload your shit faster before it reaches your brain.
>>
>>17168775

>Here the critiques will rip you a new asshole
Hmmm, so thats why every time I look up new releases on goodreads most popular shit is always a crap with half naked dudes on the cover. Good high standards you have here, westerners. Every entertaining media here on in Japan is full of crap. Vns, novels, games and whatnot.
>>
>>17168900
They simply prioritize all-ages, and that is why the adult version is much later. And they always remove the ero first, and then put it back, because why think ahead when you can do things slow and expensive.
>>
>>17168934
so it's just a scam now like how regular games remove content just so they can sell it as dlc later?
>>
>>17168947
Dies irae had a complicated development. The final version of the game with complete content only released as all-ages. The 18+ content from a previous version of the game has to be inserted back into the game. They never planned on releasing ~Amantes amentes~ in Japan with the 18+ content until this English release.

>Sadly, the first release of the game we sold was incomplete, requiring 2 additional releases to bring the project to a finish. There was much drama involving angry users and their expectations, but we are just happy to be able to bring the story to an end with Amantes amentes.

There's a spreadsheet floating around which is literally the work of one person who wanted his GF to be able to play the game. I haven't heard any complaints about it on /r/falcom where it was posted, although I haven't bothered to read the /v/ threads

Zero no Kiseki's PSP fan patch was pretty bad but playable.

It's impossible to tell because of the common route being free. You have no way of knowing how many people are actually paying for the DLC routes. Steamspy currently estimates that 24,831 ± 4,629 downloaded the common route.
>>
>>17171556
Together with kickstarter's funds it doesn't look so bad, no?
>>
>>17171564
If the kickstarter did cover all of the development costs, then the company itself is fine. If Dies Irae doesn't sell well outside of that though, then Light will probably be reliant on crowdfunding like Sekai and Frontwing.

Frontwing is better about it at least, consistently using indiegogo for smaller projects like Corona Blossom and physicals for Phantom Trigger and reserving KS for big ones. This theoretically lessens the chance of backer burn out since it splits the large scale campaigns from the small scale campaigns and lets backers know which campaigns are more vital for the company.

Sekai did use indiegogo twice, but that was due to the 18+ nature of those projects. They seem content to use Kickstarter to fund their physical editions as well, probably so they can cover some of their development costs in a preorder-esque campaign. This does seem stable for now as these types of campaigns have been consistently been able to get more than 1k backers, though Light and Age possibly becoming reliant on Kickstarter means that there may be less backer money to go around.
>>
>>17171053
I hope that Sunday's schedule gets shuffle around some before AX. As it stands the overlap, especially between the Denpa and Jast panels, is quite bad.
>>
>>17172115
Aren't 18+ panels required to be later in the evening? They might not be able to move them around much if at all.
>>
>>17172115
For streamers, it's not a huge issue since the most important stuff is in the latter half. One could watch Denpasoft completely then switch to JAST once the Denpasoft announcements are done and likely not miss anything too relevant. At least with JAST and Denpasoft, the number of people who attend and give out information in twitter will probably be roughly equal and if nothing else, the official twitter will reveal the announcements.

However, it's possible that Nutaku will reveal VN announcements of its own, which would lead to three near simultaneous relevant panels. That would be a bit of a bigger issue for anyone who wants to watch them all, and Itaru Hinoue's Q&A being one hour before Nutaku's panel and possibly overlapping with it doesn't help matters. Chances are, anyone attending will only be able to go to two of those panels at most, Itaru's and either Denpasoft or JAST. It's worth noting that most of the information of goes on in the Q&A will have to be revealed by third parties, and depending on who is being interviewed, there may not be a stream.
>>
>>17172243
I don't think that many people even watch the panel streams. Previous ones have been 50 - 80 people at most.

>>
>>17171053
It would seem that Sekai learned their lesson from last year, doing a two hour double panel with their guest instead of back to back panels and running into an issue with the mandatory room clearing between panels. Two hours seems like a while for MG, though they showed at Anime Central that they are quite capable at going over their older titles to fill time.

Frontwing having a panel is probably the big surprise on the schedule, since it wasn't clear that they were attending AX much less doing a panel. It should be noted that the panel is an 18+ rated panel, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have information on that R18 title that was mentioned in an interview when Phantom Trigger was released and their upcoming R18 storefront.

It shows a pathway genre fiction can take, and it touches greatness because of structure. The strength comes from the arrangement of parts & the ironies involved.

Notice what SCA-Ji did in Insects for example? A lesser writer would have milked the melodramatic value of those scenes in the OST & emotions, but he merely shows it for what it is. The use of Satie in the ending is tons more tragic because of that.

Or the fact that despite hewing to genre, it uses those genres to represent certain core moods (Slice of Life as Paradiasical, Mystery as Chaos). The placement of these aspects are what makes the message more powerful than the content.

In Invention, he also gives Takuji everything he desires, but shows its smallness through Juxtaposition of what he could have become. This is a step up from things like Eva that is closer to the straightforward self-help with an existential slant.

The fact that you label it self-help tells me that you are basing your critiques on mere content without considering structure. If you cant even see those technical elements - how are you even going to deal with stuff like poetry which does structural changes per line?

I heard that Imouto Paradise might have that title; it was released before the guy started keeping track of weekly releases though. It was their 2nd long nukige after all, Ultimate Boobs War being the first.

Rance does seem more persistent than Haruka though. Haruka was prominent on the chart from March to August of its release year while Rance is pretty prominent from December up to now (with a weird 3 week gap between February 12 and March 12 where Rance dropped off the chart but rose back to 2nd after said gap).

I honestly can't remember much of the fan tl one, it's been way too long.

I've been playing for a while and I haven't seen a typo. I've played for about an hour, and there was one technical misuse of grammar (using a comma before and even though it wasn't connecting two complete clauses) and one word where the scripter fucked up (In Arietta's second letter), but other than that, the translation seems perfectly fine.

Were songs subbed in the fan tl? They are subbed here, which is a nice touch, though letters like y,p, and g are a bit cut off at the bottom (it's obvious which letter it is at least).

Symphonic Rain has managed to hit 69 concurrent users during its first day, eclipsing the 67 concurrent users that Nurse Love Addiction peaked at. However, the concurrent users peaked about 9 hours ago (prime time in Asia) and has plummeted to between 10-15 concurrent users for the last few hours, so its sales are likely to be strongly Chinese based with a rather poor Western performance. That would be in line with 34 reviews thus far, 3 of which are in English, 2 in Japanese, 5 in Traditional Chinese, and 23 in Simplified Chinese.

Dies Irae has still been maintaining daily peaks around 150 concurrent users, so it is still has a relatively large number of people playing it. The Steamspy estimate has stabilized around 25k, though of course it is impossible to estimate how many people went through with purchasing the routes.

Bokuten is BGI so it's mostly just a matter of doddler reusing his old work from higurashi/d2b. There's really no reason that it took so long to get done other than doddler was invested in much more very important business such as https://twitter.com/The_Doddler/status/862852721799385089

Did anyone ever try to translate Gachinko Bitch Club? Is there any interest in a translation patch?

The steam page is up so it might come out soon.

Though it is likely to clash with the steam summer sale at this rate which can hit early sales.

According to their twitter it will be released on June 22nd. They gave some cryptic stardate system from Star Trek which converts into pic related.

>Should list clover days under sekai cause we all know that's what is going to end up happening
Did I miss something? What happened?

Clover Day's translator works for sekai.

>They also seem to be bringing over the Fata Morgana writer as a guest
That's cool. Kinda wish I could go there and sperg out about D&D with him now.

Technically the guy who is translating it as-of-this-moment doesn't. Astro's just the guy heading the project and editing it. I don't think he's actually translated anything on it in quite awhile.

That being said, I still fully expect it to be picked up by Sekai or something. It'd be awfully shitty, though. I think that translation has been going on for 3 years now, and while I don't expect that to be pushed to 4, a Sekai license could very well delay a release by a year - or, hell, even two years. Waiting 5 years for a simple light-hearted moege is kind of funny.

Where did the update for Majo Koi Nikki come from?

Thats like saying that Rilke's Archaic Torso of Apollo is self-help because it ends with 'you must change your life'

Update on this. Looks like the old tweet was deleted and a new one was made with a June 20th release date. Either somebody screwed up the previous release date or they realized they should probably get Libra out ASAP before the Steam Summer Sale.
>>
>>17187948
Is likely the latter after they saw a few people mention how retarded it is to launch a game during the summer sale. It honestly should have been out weeks ago if it wanted to miss most of the effect of the upcoming sale though.

S'up EOP pals.

Recently I was really busy, so I could neither play my own eroge neither observe what's happening among you.

So I want to ask, what was the acceptance of Dies irae among EOPery?

JAST tweeted that Vol 2 translation is about halfway done.

A bunch of release dates got moved around last year for the same reason.

Although I'm surprised Dal Segno was given a June 30 release date by MG.

>Although I'm surprised Dal Segno was given a June 30 release date by MG.
That could be down to Circus insisting it, though I would have though MG would at least try to press for waiting another week or two with the expected end date of the sale being around July 5th. Maybe Japs still don't get how Steam and the culture surrounding it works.

>Wagamama High Spec - 100% translated, Denpa version announced. Demo released
Wait hold on, this is finished? Did they give an idea of when it's coming out?
>>
>>17193129
Nope, possibly due to technical issues. There's still stuff to do even after the script is finished.

Depending on the game and the company, technical issues can hold up the game for while. MG has the least issues related to this, but even they suffer from a programming bottleneck bad enough to stall a low priority game for a couple of years (Bokuten).

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
