Nine years of apprenticeship has taught me that wizardhood is a soulless, grinding hell if you don't have a pre-existing income source to help you finance your research and alchemy.

I've been sitting in a graduate chamber, mindlessly writing out fireball spell scrolls for sale by my second-tier institute. All the while I'm cramming in as much time on my grimoire project. It's a spell-based research history on a magical incident in the 11th century that all of six people will care enough about to read. *I* don't even care that I discovered that remnants of the ancient Romano-German pagan witch guilds survived in Jutland to the middle ages, just so they could cast aural spells with slightly different runes.

I'm probably going to change classes or transfer to a hybrid class before I hit 30 and lose my ability to change a few of my stat boosts. The obvious choice is to transfer and become a monk scribe of some sort, but I'd need a full year of anti-chem therapy (thanks to my institute's insistence on relying on cheap mercury potion bases) and fitness training before I could get my STR up to even just 3. Plus I wouldn't even get a minor CHA boost like if I were to just drop out and become a fighter-mercenary of some sort.

Ahh, I just want to go back to bed and sleep forever...

If you still have a few assignable/re-assignable attribute points you can get a couple extra STR points and make a half-decent living as a warrior bandit (with a letter of marquee).

Of you could just pay a few thousand gold for a long-term CHA buff in one of the eastern Soap Temples, although you're barred from wizardry after that.
