I'm breaking into the upper-17/lower-18 range range in SDVX, and a lot of charts are beginning to have patterns like pic related. How should I be hitting these in order to be able to do faster charts like Completeness Under Incompleteness GRV or Bangin' Burst EXH?
>>
>>16999918

What an incredibly hard decision. On one hand, Outbreak is a lot more aligned with my tastes in electronic music as a whole, while on the other, I feel like DJ SUWAMI (Keiichi Ueno) was a large part of giving early IIDX its signature sound and feel as a game. That alone commands some respect, not to mention THE CUBE itself is a great song on top of all this.

It's just too hard, man.

over the period is a max song
max.(period) --> over the period

it was a thing that when max. got released on ac then ddr would end, then over the period followed it to mean ddr would go on

>reasons why pop'n is better than sdvx
- pop'n is less gimmicky
- cute aesthetic instead of edgy adhd
- has a wider variety of music that's not just "shitty remixes of good bemani songs"
- actually gets very very difficult so you can play for years and still be progressing all the time
- can "play as" actual good waifus instead of just pink slut twins
>>
why does popn attract all the furries

>>17001466

I wanna say this is bullshit. Is this written anywhere in an official manner? There's no mention of this of Remy.

I'd definitely not believe you if it weren't for Maximizer because there's not a single shred of and part of any Max song in Over the "Period".

its never explicitely stated but its easy go assume since the two songs are so closely related when they were first unlocked and also share a word in the title

>>
>>17002362
They're related in terms of how they were released but it's not a Max song in title or how it sounds. The only actual Max songs are the ones with it in their title, and those are all remixes of 300, Unlimited, and Faxx.
>>

>>17001751
TSP isn't really that bad until the very end. it's not significantly harder than the 3 songs before it until the last note stream.

i'd just grind it in free until you're confident you can keep your gauge through most of the song and just mash the ending best you can
>>
>>17002651
It's not that much harder than the other songs in Sinobuz but there's a massive jump in difficulty if you're trying to do Copula 9th.

>>
>>17010781

Play with your WN/GN to raise your scroll speed a tad. Play with it until you find something that's better for you

If that doesn't help you can adjust the offset up or down to counteract the latency of of your monitor.

Be sure to hit the keys hard and purposefully.

Be sure to try to lift your fingers up slightly before you bring them down to hit the keys.

Try practicing timing on slightly easier songs than what you're used to playing.

Try practicing on songs with easier-to-time BPMs (120, 150, 180, etc.).

>>
>>17011036
We go through this every fucking thread. Long story short, it tries to do what other games do and does it worse, and the "original" mode gives you RSI faster than you can spell autism. Also, community is cancer.
>>
>>17011114
>>shitty community
As I have had zero interactions with the osu! community this hasn't been a problem for me.

>>music consists of anison, nightcore "remixes" and shit stolen from other games
I mostly play Touhou remixes on osu! but I have noticed a somewhat limited genre selection beyond that (and sometimes within it). Do other rhythm games do this better?

>>combo based scoring
I hadn't really thought about it before but I agree with this criticism. If you miss only one note but miss it in the middle rather than at the end or the beginning you're way worse off, which feels bad.

>>bad rip-offs of taiko and beatmania
I don't play these modes.

>>proven spyware
I'd be interested to hear more about this, if anyone knows.
>>
>>17011146
Wrist issues are generally a problem with posture and a lack of proper stretching. Since most people don't do these I can see how osu! would make you more prone to RSI, though.
>>
>>17011157
>Do other rhythm games do this better

osu standard (the elite beat agents clone game mode) is a shit game because it gives you RSI and carpal tunnel in both hands and is only tangentially musical

>it will be a sad day when konmai finally releases a song with lower bpm and bag is dethroned

Literally where have you been? Bag, first of all has an actual BPM of 130, like Max 300's BPM is actually 150. So clearly you must be talking about DDR wherein its BPM is halved to 65.
This has not been the lowest BPM since, fuckin' hell almost ever if you count CS releases.
Ultramix came out in 2003 (same as bag on DDR Extreme) with a song on it called Ballad for You with a BPM of 64, I believe.
Even if you only consider AC, even SuperNOVA in 2006 had a song called I'll Make Love to You with a BPM of 50. So bag really only ever had the AC record for 3 years, and overall for less than a year.

Definitely. A lot of the newer games tend to lean towards more electronic music, but most stuff still has a bunch of different genres in it, especially games that have been running for a long time like DDR or IIDX.
>I'd be interested to hear more about this, if anyone knows.

Considering osu is a community-driven game, I'd say a shitty community is a valid excuse. Look at SM or BMS, they're just as community driven and there's a much larger variety of music and charts available for them.

How likely is it for arcade cabinets to be borked? I played some voltex today at the local arcade using a cabinet I had never touched before, literally every score was much lower and I got my first 7* which I never had even when crashing at higher leveled songs.

It could be that it's been a week but damn, I felt that I did some songs pretty well only to end with something like A+

I need some advice from you pros. Some time ago I said I lowered my GN a lot and my score improved dramatically, which is true but not true at the same time.

See, i get a lot of slows and virtually no fasts and that isn't good right? Isn't is supposed to be even? And more, songs from the level I'm trying to conquer (mid tier 11s) are virtually unplayable since it's too fast and my score ends up a lot worse than before. What should I do?

If I raise my GN I play like shit in general andif I lower the GN I improve a lot on easier songs but am unable to play hard songs. Ahould I look for something inbetween?

Only get Cs on the mid tier 11s I'm trying to get good at. If I raise the GN I get A or B really close to A but I still can't clear the songs.

But if I raise the GN my accuracy drops overall even for easier songs. I'm just trying to find that perfect comfy spot.

Be in my Paradise was 63 BPM and that was back in first style, and Nostalgic Magica is also 63. Evil Eye from GFCS was 59 but it doesn't really matter due to GFDM flat-out ignoring BPM for scroll rates. I'll Make Love to You is 50, making it the slowest consistent BPM in all of Bemani.

Sows is extremely niche so if you know of it you must clearly at least like rhythm games a lot. I simply don't understand.

>Finally have an excuse to go back and play all those lowly 8s and 7s I've been above for so long

I think this is kind of sad. Whether they only go up to Hyper charts or their Another charts are simply outdated/too easy/the song is too simple to chart any harder, I feel like something needs to be done. There are too many good songs that get ignored. Rechart them, give them Leggendaria charts with goofy HCNs all over the place. I need an excuse to play these songs again.
>>
>>17029158
Every song should be 8/10/12 and 7/9/11 and then leave beginner charts to help people get used to the game.

Problem solved.
>>
>>17029158
IIDX just needs a fourth difficulty level (not Leggendaria) in general. Easy songs could get harder charts so they don't top off at 7-9 and others could fill in a gap in their difficulty spread so you wouldn't have shit like Devilz Staircase 3/10/12 anymore.
>>
>>17029173

I feel like you're mocking me. I genuinely can't tell. A 4th difficulty would be a more reasonable solution like >>17029174 said. Though I wouldn't mind it being Leggendaria.

>>17029158
i'd like iidx to adopt the whole pump it up model of "here's a song with three charts and here's one with TWELVE"
>>
>>17029198
>Though I wouldn't mind it being Leggendaria
Leggendaria on its own isn't the problem, it's just that it forces any new charts to be harder as opposed to filling in gaps in the spread, which isn't that big a deal. More of an issue is that the folder is just a pain in the ass to get access to.
>>
>tfw they think leggendaria is down because they don't have an invite to the new Cool Kids Only™ invite-only version of leggendaria

hahahaha plebs.
>>
>>17029206

I had a retarded idea that would probably too hard to program so I never mentioned it, but I thought about a system where you could just dial in any difficulty for any song and the system would interpolate or extrapolate an appropriately difficult chart from the 3 or 4 that were made manually by Konami. So if you had a song that was 6/9/11 and wanted to play it at a 10, it would find a middle ground between the 9 and 11 charts. Or if you wanted to play it as a 12, it would ramp up the 11 chart slightly.

Probably not possible though.
>>
>>17029238
neon fm essentially does this, at least with some of the early charts. idk if they still do. but it's just one hardest chart made by a human and the rest are autogenned by removing parts from it
>>
>>17029238
A simple implementation of that isn't hard at all. The challenge for that comes from making the resulting chart still match to the music nicely and be fun/make sense.

FUCK SOWS! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS
>>
>>17029238
It's perfectly possible but probably won't play well.

The reason for those gaps in difficulty is that you're either playing say just the melody (normal), the melody plus some background accompaniment (hyper), or the melody and the background and all the percussion/bass/effects as well (another).

If you were to take a chart halfway between these, then it'd be inconsistent as in some parts the "bass on 1" might suddenly disappear as a result of increased note density in the upper register, or you'd fail to play certain parts in the background sometimes but you'd have to at other times when they show up, and in general that would make the chart rather unpredictable and strange.
>>
>>17029055

The main problem with Legendaria is that it's paywalled behind Paseli and only accessible during Extra Stage despite being a three year-old feature. This would be like having Infinite/Gravity/Heaven, White Hard, or X-Specials payable only in Extra. IIDX is ass backwards in many respects compared to pretty much every Bemani game out there right now.

>Took 13 (12 if you treat Substream as an expansion a la the DDR+ games) games for Another charts to get their own difficulty rating despite the fact that beatmania complex mix, which came out FIVE AND A HALF YEARS before Happy Sky, giving individual ratings to Hard and Another charts
>The "new" difficulty rating system was outdated even by the time it was implemented thanks to charts like OML, Scorpion Fire, and Mei being retardedly harder than everything else (along with DP simply existing), and is even more outdated now than it was 12 years ago but let's give SDVX a revamp and RB two instead
>Restricts difficulty level of playable charts by stage
>Resets all scores with the release of a new game
>Need to have a subscription to even use the in-game funbux (which can only be used on the eamuse website) while Museca/SDVX lets you purchase charts and songs in-game
>>
>>17031377
Obviously, some of these complaints can apply to other Bemani titles. pop'n still only has three difficulties that matter (who fucking plays 5-line), Jubeat still uses 1-10 even though 90% of the Extreme charts are 9/10, but IIDX is like an anthology of outdated practices in the Bemani franchises.
>>
>>17031377
I think X-Specials actually were extra exclusive when they came out. Not that anyone plays them now that they're unlocked because they're all absolute garbage charts.

You didn't even answer his question, you were too busy being smug.

Is this the power of Goochapeen?
>>
>>17031377

it doesn't reset your scores with a new game released, you keep all your lamps and high scores, only your djpoints and currency for the old version are reset. also you can buy scrolls on eamuse website to play leggendaria charts.

one more lovely is not "retardedly hard" by any stretch of the imagination
>>
>>17031830
>you keep all your lamps and high scores
All of your EX scores are erased and set to 0 (which is why your DJPoints is reset to 0). You can pay real life money in order to have the ability to set your pacemaker to your high score from the previous version, but that's it. You lose your scores every version.
>>
>>17032532
That's really fucking gay. Konami is a terrible company. Bemani should belong to Capcom or any other less terrible game makers.
>>
>>17032532
This is why I play Hazard Free most of the time on real e-AMUSEMENT. Not only is it the only mode where I can actually pick 4 stages in the US, but I might as well aim for FCs since it's the only thing that will actually save between versions.
>>
It would be cool if psun had the same feature to be honest. Gives incentive to replay charts and removes the scores of charts that you played ages ago and don't want to play again.

I mean getting the scores back isn't a big deal, if you could do it once you should be able to do it again?
>>
>>17032666
It's about being able to see your progression and motivating you to get better. Not only do I want to keep my own scores, but I would like my rivals to keep their scores too. I don't know about you, but I really like to see the numbers go up.

>removes the scores of charts that you played ages ago and don't want to play again
This used to be a feature, but it is not available with the new service and the current interface.

>I mean getting the scores back isn't a big deal, if you could do it once you should be able to do it again?
You could take this mentality to the extreme and say why save scores at all if you can always repeat your past performance.
>>
>>17032666
>if you could do it once you should be able to do it again?
but I need to get good rng on the randoms and who knows how many times I'll have to try for that
>>
>>17032701

>>
I mean if you get some score in some chart that's really just a measure of your current skill in that chart. You'd expect to be able to raise your scores, so that makes old scores somewhat meaningless anyway. Only thing they are good for are benchmarking really.

But yeah the truth is that konmai just does it to get more money, because people have to replay songs. But at least it has some upsides.

An option to reset all scores would be cool to see in psun though.
>>
>>17032729

I'm pretty sure you have to buy the Basic Course in order to get that feature. In any case, you're still not keeping your score, even indirectly. The pacemaker only exists for one version, just delaying its death unless you set a new score on that chart that will be carried on to the next version.

Well, it's missing a speaker, layered in about an eighth inch of filth, and it looks like most of the pads are missing and/or totally inoperable.

In order to fix that you're going to have to thoroughly clean it, source a replacement speaker, get a TV, get new pads, etc. I don't even know if there's a PC in there with working data, and I'm not even sure where you'd get spare pad assemblies and such.
>>
>>17032931

You see, the thing about westerners is we all have great lives. We live in the most prosperous, wealthy, and technologically advanced countries the world has ever, or probably will ever see. The common man lives like a fucking Saudi oil prince when compared to Asian countries wherein each "person" is crammed into a life smaller than our closets, eats essentially scraps their whole lives, and works everyday, 18 hours a day, until they die of exhaustion. Asians live lowly, pitiful lives as they are beaten into submission by the soulless, life crushing machine called reality until they themselves have no soul to speak of as well.
So, in this hellish world of meaningless toil and hard work at the behest of your evil little collectivist hive, where does one turn to for fun and/or enjoyment on his or her 6 hours off of work, of course on the nights that the haphazardly strung, electrical wires all throughout the city don't keep you awake with their incessant 50 Hz hum, I mean?

Video games! Right.

And these can't just be any video games. They have to be soul grinding nightmares in and of themselves as well, but sightly less so. Because what's more fun to some tortured soul who lives in a world of screaming oppression than a game featuring a pleasant world of slightly fewer nightmares, and slightly quieter screaming oppression, and slightly fewer soul crushing horrors. It's all quite nice to the average Asian player.

But you present said video game to a westerner, and it will be the single most awful thing in life they've experienced. Like briefly opening a vortex to the 9th circle of hell, and that's what IIDX is to us. Our lives are so great, fulfilling, and full of peaceful days where not even a single worry crosses our minds that the thing you call a "fun" "game" is about as horrid to us as being caught in the Twin Towers on 9/11.

Does that make us soft, or weak, or bad at video games? Perhaps, but no one in their right mind would subject themselves to the terrors of living a typical Asian life just to become better at them.

You need a lot of dedication to not be shit. Most people just spend too little time, but if you don't have dedication I guess you shouldn't expect results anyway.

if you can get it for free, get it.

but the price of restoring it will far exceed just building a home AC data setup, which you could then use to play tri-boost data.

the pads are generic yamaha and easy to get, getting the internal hardware wouldn't be too hard either. the monitor will be pricy but doable. to repair the labeling, lighting, and trim, will be brutally expensive.

The culture has a part in this too. They're really smooth and feel like they'll last a long time. Really accurate too. The only problem with them is that the shafts in them are very short, 13mm or so, so I had to use a flexible coupler and a dowel to make it easier to mount my knobs.
