How would that really work or help in any way? A Youkai requires more than just fear to exist, it doesn't matter how many people a Youkai kills or how many babies they eat, if the humans are advanced enought to say that these deaths are not caused by supernatural entities, then the Youkai would still die.

We as a modern species are so used to creepypastas, horror movies and jumpscares that supernatural entities will find it hard to make us actually believe them. I doubt it would be very different for Gensokyo residents if they one day have access to all technology available in the real world.

A counterpoint is that in Gensokyo youkai ARE a proven existence, and you can't really deny their existence once they start posting videos of themselves on the internet. Even if they get "fake and gayed" it will probably just prompt Yukari to pull a Second Youkai Expansion project.

Yamabiko scream echoes in Gensokyo's mountains, yet despite the fact that they exist in Gensokyo, they still started dying when humans realized that echoes are caused by sound waves and not magic dogs.
