I've been telling you guys about this shit for like four years now. Big Sight is getting renovated and then its going to go the way of every structure renovated/created for the olympics ever. It's going to sit empty for an eternity because the cost to rent it out will skyrocket in an attempt to make money back from renovations when the Olympics fails to turn a profit (because the olympics have never been profitable).

There will come a day when Comiket will no longer be hosted in Big Sight.

Are there any other large convention centers in or around Tokyo they could use?

Just find another convention center.

Most olympics left financial strains to the host country and derelict buildings. This could be the final straw for japan's declining economy like how it destroyed greece.

The wonderfest hall at Chiba come to mind.

The problem I see is with traffic. TBS has nothing surrounding the place, it is a pretty dead place. I just don't see it happening near a huge city center like Akiba, the traffic would grind the whole city to a stop.

What they could do is move to a smaller venue, then hold the event for longer (say, 5 days).

There are a load of other events now so if they have to severely cut down on the number of circles who win that lottery then it won't be too bad. It'll only be temporary anyway.

I don't get why they need to close it for two years just because there is Olympics near to it.
