There's a brief reference to past Servants that possessed their Masters in F/SN - some early exposition from either Rin or Kotomine, I think. IIRC it was a relic from an earlier version of the story where the effects of Berserker's God Hand extended to his Master.

Demi-Servants had already been shown in Apocrypha and Prisma Illya though.

I think you're taking it too seriously, but summoning nonstandard servants makes sense given chaldea is pulling them from a bunch of alternate dimensions as a last-ditch effort to save humanity. Also, they made Mash in a lab using a magic table, so her being her own thing isn't an issue either.

This is one of my main problems with GO. I find it hard to believe that anyone who's followed TM for an extended amount of time wouldn't be disappointed with what GO does to SN. I'm personally upset about the whole Primate Murder fiasco and even though it makes enough sense, it still just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

While it's not directly about the game, another thing that baffles me is how some people who play GO belittle and insult the very sources that their gacha servants come from. GO is very different from the rest of the verse so I can see how it would attract a different crowd of players, but if you don't care for the source I would think that it'd make more sense to play something like Granblue since a lot of people are playing for the mindless mobage aspect in the first place.
I think that most people who easily accept GO treating the rest of the verse as a corpse and dragging it through the mud are new to the franchise in general and willing to disregard "old" information, or maybe don't even know of it having not played Tsukihime, HA, etc. When I played Extra and CCC, despite thinking that they weren't near the same caliber as anything leading up to them, I didn't feel like they were soiling the original games because they're fairly closed off stories universe-wise, as are Tsukihime and Fate but at the same time having deep and at times subtle lore that constructs a wider picture, and then GO comes along.

When playing FSN for the first time it's exciting thinking of the possibilities for different servants and things like "What if X was a servant?", but it was still just an afterthought because FSN itself is not a story about servants, they're just summoned as a tool in order to tell a different story. This concept is also played out well in Zero and the people who say things about the concept or the servant system being "wasted" are looking for something else entirely. GO turns this concept on its head and all of what could've been in a story like this in regards to the throne of heroes, the servant and summoning system, and interaction between multiple timelines is instead thrown out to present it to you in a gotta collect 'em all mobage fashion, all the while changing and retconning previously established aspects of the verse.
Grand Order should've been a more isolated story, like Apoc or even SF, and could have all the loli santa servant goodness without completely shitting on its predecessors.

Idk man extra is still pretty good, all the fucking shitty LN spinoffs written by people totally unrelated to Type-Moon are what spelled the end.

At this point I wish T-M would just move on already, and I say that as a big Fate fan. There's a bunch of good Type-Moon IP, and I'm still confident they could make more original stuff. Just stop milking Fate already.

Since when you can turn every historical figures even without legendary power into Servants? All these GO Servants, especially those based on fucking storytellers and 20th century inventors have bullshit and nonsense powers topped with grand exaggerated explanation like "Archer (Nikola Tesla) has brought the power of gods (electricity) into the age of man" thus he can shoot lightning like it's nothing.

I suspect it was started because Urobuchi made Servants like Lancelot Berserker who suddenly has NP to disguise himself and taking other's NP weapon which happened to be GoB's bullshit counter, just because he once taking someone's place on race horse and defeated someone with a tree branch or something respectively, and there is also Gilles who is not even an actual mage. Nasu probably followed suit with that explanation why Gilgamesh is Archer but I'm not sure which one came first.

I'm not against F/Z but I think the Servants Uro made has more bullshit than Nasu came up and I thought that's pretty impressive. That's what I think one of the enabler, aside from Uro being the first outside writer who wrote for TM, of the influx of fanfics you would've thought only came up by 4chan poster on Fate thread.
