Why do the Japanese not like braces? There are never any images

Fucked up teeth are a fetish in Japan. Can't have both.

Is braces even a fetish? Is it not just a subfetish of lolicon, like recorders and backpacks? Westerners would like braces and pigtails because they exude "youth"? Like you wouldn't really be interested in a 30 year old with braces, right?

Well its pretty much like >>16225891 said. Flawed teeth are considered cute. It's why anime girls have those "fangs." They represent a snaggletooth, unless the character is an animal person or vampire.

Probably also due to Americans caring more about teeth straightness. In general, it's likely not common enough to be much of a thing. Although I've rarely happened across images/videos of westerners with braces either unless they were supposed to be super nerdy or I was specifically looking up pictures of braces.

I've seen countless adults with braces.
Mainly mid-20s where they start to outgrow their teenage days of not giving a shit about appearance and want to actually find a decent job and settle for a bit.

I have no idea how to explain why it looks cute, though.
It's weird. It seems to make a smile seem bigger since there is less gaps of dark from squinted teeth and such, so it is more white overall.
But the dark of the frame also acts like a weird sort of not-lip, which almost makes it look like a half-smile.
It's both a large and small smile at the same time and fucks with the brain.

Because no one has ever fetishized or positively portrayed an adult with braces. Barely even do they have kids with braces not be nerds or antagonistic characters. Braces for a MC unless they're a nerd is a negative thing and source of ridicule. If they're in porno, the person is a nerd and/or pretending to be a teen. Feel free to provide counterexamples.
