I always found that /jp/'s discussion and taste was a bit more... broad in lesser discussed Japanese titles, then what is found on /v/ and /vg/. In years past /jp/ use to have it's own gaming discussions, not sure why the current culture is adverse to it.

And on the note of Comiket, whats the deal with things not being uploaded anymore? Even searching Share and Perfect Dark, nothing much shows up gaming wise. Cambria Sword looked really nifty and was looking forward to trying it out. At this point I was almost thinking about buying it and uploading it myself.

Not really. /jp/ talked about porn games more than anything and the action porn game genre is more or less dead. There were a few games that got translated that got discussed but they moved right to /vg/, probably because they were games /jp/ had played years ago.

Because /vg/ has tainted the minds of its regular posters to act like retarded, flame war seeking /v/tards and insular, paranoid, shitposting generalfags. As such, things that might attract them are sort of shunned. Since a large part of /jp/ went to /vg/ to discuss japanese games, there's a bit of crossover.

Piracy and computer use is dying and Chinese pirates are more secretive. People seem more interested in doujin music too, lately. Your best bet is probably buying it if you don't want to go prowl the Chinese internet.

It could also just have been last comiket, because the ones before were fine.


Also one more thing is, /jp/ used to talk about specific games and things. "what game/MMO are you playing" only works for stuff like the VN threads. It comes of as a recommendation thread and as an unfocused topic otherwise, which they are, since there's a lack of new content nowadays. You gotta pick a game and try to start discussion about it.

You all should play Biblinthus if you haven't. It's a pretty cute little puzzle game. I don't know what game it's copying but I sort of want to try those kinds of games.

Touhou Panetama was kind of fun too. I didn't really ever hear anyone mentioning these two games, but they're both worth playing a few times.

No, I don't know. The only time I'm in /vg/ is back when I used to play Dwarf Fortress, which had nothing like that, and for whatever /jp/ style MMORPG we can't talk about on /jp/ anymore because everyone would rather play shitty phone and browser games.

RO is terrible. The new RO is terrible and the old pure grind RO just doesn't cut it nowadays. I just want a cute game with cute characters and cute half naked enemies and no instances but more sandbox than RO was. And either no pvp or pure open pvp, so I never have to hear pvp fags whining about their containment pvp modes.

I also want defined classes but for the classes to have enough skills to make wildly different builds.

That's pretty much impossible nowadays with the imposed wow standard who is pretty much mandatory for every fucking MMORPG.

I want something like Tera without cashgrab offers stuck everywhere in the game, the non tab targeting system is amazing

And thus here you have the reasoning why no developer has re-made or made a game eerily similar to RO despite it being somewhat simple and requiring less of a devout team thanks to it not being forced on rails and story based with garbage "REAAL ACTION COMBAT" systems, people barraged this exact same sentence over every released episode and went to cuddle that one private server that could (as private servers were brought up since 2004).

Because even if they did, no matter how well they did it or how good it was, people would just argue that it isn't the same and/or whine about the changes that it brought.

I've been on a Diablo 2 bent lately, Reimu 2: Lord of Maidens is a pritty fun mod. Seems to be based on top of some version of Median XL.

Its nice since you can mostly get away without using PlugY... But I would still recommend it for unlimited stash tabs and the stash that is persistent between characters.

Shin Megami Tensei IV and Etrian Odyssey IV. Also Cave Story and REVOLVER360 RE:ACTOR. Also Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream. But this is not /v/.

When I was really nostalgic about 3 or 4 months ago I've joined a lowish/mid rate and I enjoyed playing RO again.
The charm of RO was to see people around though, or see people talking/rping around even if you didn't actually interact with them.

Now all private servers are just ""check out our cool tp skillstats resets npc instant prison glast heim warp but that costs zeny because we are cool and balance things LOL". And the main chat is basically an extension of reddit and 9gag with people thinking it's fun.

Working my way through the entire King's Field series. I had American 1 and 2 as a kid, I hadn't played the Japanese-only first game or Ancient City yet.

Ancient City is a bit of a "soft reboot", but it is a most excellent game. If you like any of the other ones its very much worth playing.
Works in PCSX2. Had the best luck with everything drawing correctly in the software renderer which if you have a modern i5 or i7 should work just fine.

I hope that this comiket some games get uploaded by friendly people who bought them and then decided to share the things they now own with whomever they felt like.

I've been playing Tree of Savior lately. It's pretty cute and fun despite the entire useserbase seemingly thinking otherwise. It's not RO, but RO was a special game among other Korean MMORPGs of its ilk. You can be cute and have anime style costumes though, so it's good enough for me.

Is it just a free movement system where you run round and hack and slash stuff or something? I could never bring myself to try it because the characters models are ugly, even though Elin are so cute in Japanese fan art/doujinshi.

I get 60fps on maps without moving water and if I turn the moving water off, 30 otherwise, like 20 in town. I don't do PVP so I don't know there.

Most shit like massive slowdowns were fixed but there's still some stuff that makes lag happen from time to time.

Literally me, I'm playing this game recently too, trying to get all the achievments (I'll tell you, a Lunatic clear with Riva is a real nightmare, Zizou second form is no joke), pic related is my current progress, almost there.


Overall a fun little game with great music, can't wait to play LoDW2 when I finish this one completely.
