Does anyone else absolutely love old Japanese culture? Even anime and video games set in old-world Japan I find myself enjoying so much more than anything else. I'm thinking of collecting some old school toys and figures to like some kokeshi dolls and getting some Higoshige wood block prints for my walls.

I like japanese history, music and folklore stuff but art is shit desu. It didn't change throught centuries and still it looked like poorly made medieval codex art.

I agree that the art lacks detail, for human figures it doesn't look the best but the naturescapes and architecture are glorious.

Japanese art is more than just woodblock prints. The older stuff includes ink paintings like those in Chinese art. Very Zen and mystical, like this one from the 16th century.

I love these too, I just lean towards the woodblocks because they "pop." I'm planning on getting an ink painted screen for my study. Maybe a hanging scroll as well.
I'm also a big fan of suiseki and kintsugi. Been trying to find a nice rock to display but I haven't found anything with a really interesting shape.

Sengoku era history is also pretty ballin. The Shingen Takeda / Kenshin Uesugi rivalry is the archetype for pretty much every anime rivalry since the beginning.
