Are you asking if artists saved ZUN from his own designs again? If so, yes I think so.
I think it's a shame that they're such new characters as they have great variety and interesting mythologies behind them that could inspire a lot of great work.

My impression of the music has gotten better over time.

They all grew on me, but I'm receptive to most Touhou characters anyway. I'm indifferent at most to someone.

I accepted why Clownpiece was dressed the way she was and really liked Hecatia from the start anyway. Not fitting the setting never entered my mind because they're Gensokyo outsiders anyway.

The one who probably grew on me most was Ringo.

She's grown on me. Her outfit is unique, melds right with her visual motif (pumpkins), and her theme is simply delightful. I've begun to whistle along with it whenever I finish Stage 2. Third best LoLK.

Smuggest of them all. Largely and uniquely irrelevant, considering her nature. Her only interesting feature character-wise is her covert betrayal of Sagume. She's still hot as fuck in both design and concept, and I'd fap to her regularly if she had more material to go with.

Of all LoLKs, she's grown on me the most. A respectable figure among the most despised faction in Touhou, Sagume has revealed herself to not only be protective of her people, cunning in her plans, and mysteriously powerful, but also benevolent to a point in her unwillingness to destroy Gensokyo, and amicable toward the heroines (including the traitor, Reisen) for mooninite standards. Easily the toppest LoLK. Also, hot aunt vibes.
>Clownpiece
Hot as fuck, but has nothing going for her otherwise. Memespammers didn't help, either.
>Junko
A bit of a stiff character. Literally single-dimensional. Her visual design is excellent, however, and I like her for that alone.
>Hecatia
Quirky, funky, modern. Love her shirt. Gets a lot of undeserved flak for stupid memes and "outlandish" design, but I've come to like her a lot over the year. Second best LoLK.

My first impressions was while the designs are a bit outlandish, they're undoubtedly one of the most uniquely designed characters in the series, at least for me. Personality wise, they're much more serious than the usual Touhou characters which makes sense considering some of them operate in a bigger scale than just Gensokyo. Hecatia was the toughest one to get used to and Sagume was the easiest for me. When the translations were out, Hecatia's personality was absolutely great for me and the fact that she's one of the highest ranking beings in Touhou without the snobby personality made her my second favorite LoLK. My favorite is still Doremy. The fact that she still kept being smug after being defeated made her an instant favorite for me.

I think all of the characters are great, I find it sad that they get so much flak. I especially like Junko and Hecatia. Junko looks super cool all around and Hecatia's design is really creative and cute.
