Even if the Western fandom has gotten small I think Touhou in general has just gotten just "right" in terms of popularity, not too big to be filled with retards but just big enough to sustain itself and be notable without going full profit. Have to thanks boatsluts for leeching off secondaries for us, it's super comfy at the moment.

I'm a net developer so I got interested on going with unreal c# and maya, my first idea so far is one title with youmu as main a hack and slash with simple story line and fluid gameplay keeping the spell card dodging in the gameplay and a 3rd person view

The thing is indie game scene in the west mostly focus on seeking profit and popularity, meanwhile in japan doujin scene not so much.
You can tell that by the kind of game they produce and its quality.
