>>
>>15722433
Damn that is super clean. Leaving it white or gonna put an overlay? Also what's the dimensions?
>>
>>15722476
Going to paint it matte white with shiny (spray) lacquer on top. Don't wanna do overlay now since I doubt it would stay intact without acrylic cover and I don't have access to a laser cutter. All the holes are drilled&filed in, and I really don't want to do that to acrylic. Too brittle.
The dimensions are 240X440 mm, though a better one would be 240X460, since now my encoders came too close to the corners and I had to finagle a bit with the corners of the actual box in order to fit it all in. Oh well. Live and learn.
If you're looking to build one, I suggest looking into the bonkler guide of sdvx controller builds, it does a good general walkthrough of the process.

Thanks for the tip. I'm building an SDVX after I finish my IIDX, pic related. I'm using plexi for the button panels. You can drill holes reliably if you use a step drill bit. As for square holes for buttons, I'm drilling pilot holes and using a friend's jigsaw with a high TPI blade. As long as you're careful and practice on a bit of scrap acrylic first, it can be done.

>>
>>15722705
Man, that looks sweet as hell. Now I really want to have an overlay too...
I guess I'll look into it when I've finished the controller and played a bit with it.
Either way, post your finished controller when it's ready.
Btw, how do you make the turntable assembly? I've been interested in making an IIDX controller too, but can't really figure out the best way to make the turntable. Do you have it on a bearing and then just relay the rotation to an encoder, or do you have it sitting directly on an encoder?
>>
>>15722765
I'm going to try making the TT by sandwiching turntable felt between two acrylic discs, and attaching that to an encoder knob, probably with epoxy.
>>
>>15722289

Where'd you get those knobs? After all the upgrades to my SVES5, I realized I'm only two knobs and a board away from having a second controller.

>>15722040
My SDVX controller is almost as ghetto as it gets, 7 beatmania buttons in a heavy as fuck wooden box with arduino leonardo glued inside and wires just soldered onto connectors. The only slightly above trash component is chinese 600ppr encoders only because bourns from mouser weren't much cheaper due to shipping cost. I'm considering getting omrons or 60x60 BTs upgrade but it's too expensive due to shipping so I'm hesitant since I'm a scrub anyways.

>>
>>15724782

The problem is finding a quality adapter with as little latency as possible.

In any case I'm sure the PS2 ports should hold me over for awhile
>>
Corin confirmed, they're not accepting Cindy art at the moment. Seems Sherlok stepped down. Art invites will be back up sometime soon.
>>
>>15725021
not the same guy, but I use a Pelican PS2/PS3 converter I got off ebay. I just started and am getting As and AAs easily, so it seems fine. Using a jkoc though.
>>
>>15725068
See the problem is that USKOCs have a lower polling rate compared to JKOCs, so adapter latency is particularly important for them. Button quality is at least better apparently.

US storehouse is just a repository for controllers already built at the main facility in china. All they do is shipping.
>>
I just started playing gravity wars. What is the point of the cards?
>>
>>15725691
Nothing, unless you grind a PUR, as they help you complete missions faster.

Also I guess you could trade the duplicates with people or something.

I don't know, I hardly play AC.
>>
>>15725691
There is no point to the non-PUR cards. The PUR cards give you in-game navigator characters that also help you do more damage in the story mode boss battles.
>>
>>15725560
i realize that, but they allow you to buy replacement parts so i was just wondering why they wont let you buy a replacement faceplate thing

>>
>>15725942

>>15725969

>>
>>15725986

>>
How do IIDX AC turntables differ from the one in a us koc?

I've been running a us koc for a while now and am considering either getting a dao or building my own. My biggest pet peeve is that the koc turntable scrolls through the menu very quickly, while at the arcade it seems to have acceleration.
>>
>>15726020
The KOCs send turntable input digitally, from what I understand - not analog.
>>
>>15725767
That's because they have said parts in the US Storehouse too, they're not going to print out something that you can easily print out yourself just because you're too lazy to use a template and do it yourself.
>>
that 6dan feel when you fail the safari
at least i passed ubertreffen this time
>>
>>15726038
afaik AC turntables aren't analog either, but rather work like a Dao where they just use an optical sensor and a gear.
>>
>>15726103
Is it possible to use that kind of a setup on a homemade controller?

Also, any resources on homemade controllers in general? The pastebin is kinda lacking.
>>
>>15726090
no, they ship the parts from china?
>>
>>15726136
I don't know how easy or hard it would be to use optical sensors on a homemade controller, you could try maybe buying a Dao controller board with the TT assembly and making the rest of the controller yourself, alternatively you could try making a gear out of cardboard or something and using a USB mouse as sensor.
>>
>>15726273
ah i thought you meant the controllers that come with upgrade parts, they don't let you buy them on US storehouse controller or sell them separately because.. well.. would you really pay shipping for a piece of paper?
>>
>>15726136
You can buy optical encoders and sensors/rings if you'd like

You can also ghettorig a spinning platter to an old optical mouse.

I've been playing since 2010 and normally play 13s-16s, hardest song I've passed would be Posession ESP with a B (A scale). I've SDG'd some old-scale 7s, but never gotten a AAA.

Also one of my favorites. One of my go-to songs to play at the arcade in my area.

Did you get to experience having a large scene for DDR when you started that early?

I remember being very little around that time, and my parents took me to the same arcade I go to play now, and I would see 20-something year olds playing no-bar freestyle, and I thought it was the neatest shit. That's what drew me; I didn't care about any other video game in the arcade. Even though I didn't actually start playing until years later.

Shame I never got to experience DDR when it's popularity was at its peak, but I'm more than grateful when the occasional player does show up to play versus.

Any fond memories of when you got into it?
>>
>>15728545
>Did you get to experience having a large scene for DDR when you started that early?
Yeah, it was fantastic. The games were so popular and there'd always be people watching you play in the arcade. That said, I'm only 20 now so I was a young child at the time as well. I didn't like, make friends with other players.

>>15730584
>freeleech is free ratio, even if it takes a little bit

Grab ALL the freeleech shit or just seed 1 so you can trade credit for ratio. The former is probably more hassle than it's worth honestly, but it's faster (especially when you combine the two).

And as >>15730612 said, grab popular torrents early. I got ~10GB from just one album recently.

Nice, since playing some Taiko on 3DS I've looked into the controllers for maybe using on emulators but could do Wii U... just don't sit in front of my Wii U often.
>>
Speaking of Taiko, anyone happen to play TnT+ on iOS and have songs from the last year or so?

I'm looking for .dat files from the games "Songs" folder when you look at the App with say iFunbox.

Those files contain the audio info and what I'm after most all the charting, I have around 256 songs but nothing past 2014 :(

Don't believe those .dat files would give me access to the songs in-game which is fine, not after that, just a bitch to find them, since you know... if you can't pirate them who is going to upload them >.<

I am so tempted to just buy one of those controllers as well. Recently switched over to LR2 myself, but I just can't find a comfortable key for scratching, since I'm used to using my left thumb for the middle lane and I prefer the scratch lane on the left.
Not sure if it would fix the problem though.

if you mean key 4, you should be using your right hand for that, assuming 1P.

i've never used a dao but what I can say is that the portabledx turntable is really nice, it's a little bit stiff (which is actually nice for pushing it multiple times in the same direction) but I can still activate it with just my pinky and it rotates very smoothly. the biggest downside is the top being smooth plastic, but it's still grippy enough unless my hands are exceptionally sweaty

anon, the drive to my closest R1 is always 2.5-4 hours thanks to LA traffic, and it's ALWAYS worth it.Just do it once or twice to see if it's worth it to you.

You can also call and ask for MUSECA.Sunnyvale R1 just opened up and they took one of PHM's cabinets,so they're down to 2 cabs. They also took 2 SDVX cabs along with a few ticket games. If you bother management enough, they might transfer some shit over

Rhythm game players are all friendly as fuck

Out of the 13 or so years playing everything from DDR and ReRave to SDVX and GITADORA,I've never met someone that wasn't able to enjoy themselves in a public place with like minded people around them

Just do basic shit like shower and grooming, wear deodorant if you're going plan on sweating, and always say hello to the other players around you. You'll make friends just by saying hi and talking about the game that you're in line to play
>>
>>15743622
Not that anon
D-Does this count for Japan too? I'm going next year and understand the language alright
>>
>>15743631
Never been to Japan, but playing at PHM you get a mixed bag of local english speaking asians, and people who only know Japanese/Mandarin

I know enough of both to carry on a basic conversation and talk about the games themselves.I butcher the languages to all hell but it's enough to congratulate them or answer questions when they have them.

But that's here in the US,US culture is a lot more open and friendlier than our asian brethren.A friend just came back from a few weeks in Tokyo and he did it all,not just vidya but he did most of the shit that Japan has to offer. But since we're both really big into rhythm games,he explained that it didn't matter what game he was playing,DDR,Chunithim,MaiMai,SDVX,GC,EVERYONE kept to themselves and only after playing really well at a particular game, did they do something small like a golf clap.

The rest of the time, everyone would just be on their phones texting, playing on apps, and basically keeping to themselves.I honestly can't fathom it since I'm so used to talking it up with my rhythmbros.
>>
>>15743631
People keep to themselves in Japan.

Just stand in line and wait your turn and you'll be fine. The guy behind you will probably be texting or something.
>>

>>
>>15743622

Social anxiety wasn't that other reason, if that's what you're guessing. I'd have no trouble mingling with other rhythm gamers.
>>
>>15744074
then what's the reason?

Do you get a boner everytime you full combo something?
>>
>>15739502
>>15739526
With the 5 Taiko games on wii, you've got a pretty decent playlist in size. Besides, most osu charts are just not fun and/or stupid as hell. You can find taikojiro simfiles for almost every official chart just by googling, but the annoying part is that you'll have to download them one by one. However, I think there are some torrents of packs for taikojiro on sows if you are lazy and got ratio to spend.

If you want to stay with osu!, a few of the official charts have been converted (aquabluu etc), so you could also do that, but you are missing on a lot of content imo.

Also, playing on wii's got the advantage of having the dojo mode to complete, training mode to rewind in the middle of a song to train a difficult part, boss songs, skins and every other gimmick that makes playing the game plain fun altogether. Of course, if you are only interested in the core gameplay, then I recommend taikojiro foremost, even though the setup is kind of a pain.

Anyone who plays rhythm games is an autistic faggot, I have literally never had one positive interaction with anyone at an arcade, people hogging machines, being rude for no reason, etc. And I've been to r1 plenty of times
This community is fucking awful and I hate all of you
>>
>>15744189
I think it's just americans that are annoying and elitist for some reason when it comes to high skill videogames.

Not always. Unless you're talking about arcades, then yes, maybe you're right.

Is there a substantial difference between the FP7 EMP and FPS EMP? I'm looking into getting a controller for LR2. Also, any idea if an IIDX controller could be used well for DJMax?
>>
>>15744302

It's per song
>>
>>15744408

FPS has a smaller turntable and overall smaller form factor.

The FP7 has a smaller-than-arcade turntable but much closer.

They're both arcade height and distance from the keys though.

Other than that they both have exactly the same features and can be equipped with the same buttons/switches.

Oh yeah, also, the FPS, you can actually adjust it to JKOC distance from buttons. so if you're coming off a JKOC that might be nice.
>>
>>15744438

Well then who's top 10 on Mei?
>>
>>15744471
Thanks, and this'll be my first controller. I've played in the arcades a few times and need to git gud desperately.
>>

Also, get the stock switches and buy 50g Omrons elsewhere and install them yourself.

What, buying them or replacing them? Buying them all you need to know is the part number which is D2MV-01-1C3. Just shop around and find the best price.

I use Mauser because they have great customer service.

Don't know about pcb's, but arduino leonardo and its chinese copies are fine for mouse/keyboard emulation, and you can play svdx and ksm with that.
That's what most use and that's what I'm using.
I'm assuming DIY, no?
>>
>>15746470
>>15746551
Oh, and DON'T get arduino uno or nano. You'd have to do some work to get them working.
The leonardo shouldn't be more than 5$ from ebay, so just get it, it's dirt cheap and there's readymade code for sdvx controllers everywhere.
>>
>>15746515
The one thing that Anthony does right is give a working product, keep in mind that he gives all of the standard stipulations

But he price gouges like a motherfucker to maximize profit,as well as create delay after delay, to the point where tons of buyers don't ever go back.there's a reason why Tokyo Attack is going to go under within the next year.

And yes I do feel bad for him and the rhythm community, but Tokyo Attack has been nothing but disappointment with a very high price attached to it
>>
>>15746587

maybe he can "crash" another truck and make a gofundme for it
then keep increasing the funding limit once the goal was reached well beyond the price to pay for the truck

>>
>>15747510
He's both
>>
>>15747510

He does both

He only attends conventions with the sales pitch of "Hey! I have a whole bunch of cool foreign rhythm games that people in your area will never be able to play or haven't even heard of and I can bring to this convention for this price"

If the convention is dumb enough to pay him his asking price to rent out "X" amount of machines,he'll bring them in last minute and in terrible condition.

Groove Coaster cabs with broken/sticky boosters,SDVX cabs with non functioning knobs,IIDX cabs that don't have a local server attached so the game won't even boot.Just tons and tons of issues.
He does fix them eventually for conventions, but if there are cabs at your local convention from Tokyo Attack!,don't expect them to be fully functional for at least an hour or two before the con closes for the day

And get ready for butthurt if you plan on buying one of these cabinets.Despite it being used,he will charge you full MSRP + Delivery + Installation + Storage fee's and he's terrible at haggling.

He's a nice enough guy at conventions and somewhat friendly when he isn't busy and just in line to play games, but jesus fuck he is straight up running Tokyo Attack! into the fucking ground with terrible business practices, terrible prices, and worst of all terrible service.

Oh my god TA.
I love the guys behind TA, I love the current head guy, he's a great person.

I don't want to go too far into discussion on this purely out of respect for him but I do want to address what bothers me about the way TA machines work.
IIDX had great buttons. The turntable is way lighter than my tastes but it's whatever. The monitor for it is a shitty Emerson propped up on an Optiplex, the decals are scratched off everywhere, no bass stage, no lights on top. There is no way anyone involved with them cares about that IIDX and its really sad because it's a Tricoro cab.
Jubeats aren't always fully networked. That's just annoying. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.
One of the SDVX's has has knob problems for a while (I noticed at a con months ago) and while I do believe it's been replaced I think there's an underlying problem somewhere else.

The problem is at the moment there is no worthy alternative to TA so if you want them you get them or one of the second-rate groups. I honestly believe he's good intentioned, TA just needs worthy competition that doesn't rely on him to exist.
