On final dance main fleet reduced boss to about half health and the boss support completely missed her. During yasen Kasumi punched her for 2x200 and Haguro finished her off.

This is my personal experience, but yes. I had literally 8 rows of off-routing when I used Shoukaku and Taihou because previous information said it didn't matter. Once I took them both off and was forced to use Amagi and Junyou, the ratio was like 75% chance to go to boss node.

Either RNG dicked me hard, or armored carriers increase off-routing. But I'm pretty damn sure if I was using Amagi and Junyou from the start it would have saved me like 20k in resources.

E7 was annoying, landbase usually do shit damage and new DD Hime is one of the worst enemy I ever faced (opening torps+troll armor).

Also I think that opening airstrike is still a thing in E7, so Kidou Butai can be better option here - as long as you want to deal with tsu on every node and double CV Hime on preboss.
Landbase is very experimental, but I realized that you still need at least one fighter in every squadron. Rest is just what other people suggested to me. Also if I remember correctly, I had one landbase bomber on cooldown, when I send my squadron for last kill, so maybe you can try to add it somewhere.

I accidentally switched my squadrons to AA defence instead of rest and forgot to switch it back to attack, when I go for first run E7 today. Four squadrons with five fighters and still my airbases got fucked like there were no defence. I think interceptor could be difference maker, but on E7 you want as many placebo on boss node as possible.

It's also easier to reach the boss with this composition if you don't fuck up your equipment setup. Second node turns into a joke. First it's smooth sailing, getting boss to last dance in five sorties, then five sorties in row can't reach the boss at all because of freak taihas and when I finally do, it's fucking hankousen twice in a row. Once leaving the boss in green HP and other time denying S rank, wasting effort of boss support.

First of all, one DD is supposed to be used as bait. Pick a bitch you hate the most (i.e. Shitgure, Taihadachi or another Akacki) and give her two guns and a searchlight. She's supposed to flash in night battle and get rekt.

Another DD should have 2 guns and WD-40 just in case of something not moving when it should. Don't expect her to deal damage to the boss. If she does - well, good for you.

Last DD is on AACI duty, i.e. pick someone from Akizuki class and give her 2 10cm+FD and T13 Kai.

CAV - ideally Tone or Chikuma. I prefer Chikuma but I just like looking at her damaged sprite. Give her two 20.3(3), Zuiun12 and Sanshiki.

Now, assuming you're able to sortie an Italian (and only one Italian), you have two choices:
a) exposing yourself to Ru DA on node E
b) getting air parity on node E while sacrificing air proficiency on a seaplane bomber of your choice.

Personally, I used a >> Zuiun 601 because they do not matter and are easy to retrain.

Another choice - equipment. Assuming your lovely Italian of Installation Removal has two fit guns, Sanshiki and a seaplane, you have three choices when equipping your second BB:
a) 2 fit guns, sanshiki, seaplane
b) 2 fit guns, AP shell, seaplane
c) 2 fit guns, AP shell, sanshiki

I went with b) because I sent her as flagship and expected her to remove obstacles on pre-boss and boss nodes. One BB was for exposing the boss. a) and c) allow her to actually deal serious damage to the boss if she targets her. with a) you keep DA on pre-boss nodes, with c) you're quite versatile. Pick whatever suits you.
