No sign of Denuvo, just the same old Buddy shit. They might have applied it after Buddy decrypts the executable, but I seriously doubt it because the exe is 32 bit and applying Denuvo would need a serious rework of Buddy DRM which wasn't updated since 2011. I guess someone who bought the game would need to confirm whether it connects to Denuvo servers to send cpuid data.

The cracker just compiled KiriKiri by the way, he never touched Buddy at all (since he didn't have a valid serial so he wasn't able to crack it the conventional way because the decryption key gets sent by the remote server if you input the right serial). Akabei would need to change the engine altogether and never release demos or apply some encryption on the game files to prevent such method, but given how incompetent they are, I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon.

In the end looks like shacho lied and the only thing his bullshit accomplished was attracting pirates' attention so the game got cracked even faster than the previous one.

You can customize the shit out of it as well. And things like the backlog and customizing options are just nice in it. (Well usually. Like Omokage shows, you can change that in KiriKiri.
The thing I like normally about the default backlog though is, that it features all lines you've encountered and allows jumping anywhere you want (and in some cases even has preview pictures that accompanied the line you've your cursor at). Basically you have 4-5 lines per page and scroll up a page with "pg up". When you open the backlog, you can navigate like that or with the bar through 100 pages which are a block. Once you hit the top, another block is loaded. (you can also press "home") The latter makes it also pretty easy to get a good estimate of how many lines a given playthrough has as you can easily and fast count the blocks, if you care about such things.

I'm sure you can have more lines every page, given that I've seen different amount of lines with this kind of backlog already.
But anyway, granted, most of the time you don't really use it much, so other engines tend to not care too much about it. But it's not just the backlog that's nice about KiriKiri anyway.

Does anyone else feel like a hypocrite with romance eroge sometimes? It seems like whenever some plot is going on, I'm bored and just want to get on with the relationship, but whenever the whole game is plain romance, I get bored and wish something else was going on. Maybe my problem is just that a lot of romance in romance eroge (moege/charage) is pretty stale due to the lack of any real meaningful drama. In fact Hoshi Ori is a good example. During the routes, I was always bored during the cultural festival sections and wanted to get on with romance. But when the romance section hit, I was kind of bored because instead of every scene progressing their relationship, they were just fucking and making out all the time.

What I've determined is that the lasting value of icha icha is heavily related to complexity of the character providing it. The icha of a nukige deredere heroine is next to worthless, because it's pretty much equivalent to looking in a mirror and saying "I love you" while crying. However, a well written and complex character providing icha icha after surmounting relationship problems and whatnot, is extremely valuable. It is thus my opinion that icha icha would be much more enjoyable if character routes didn't go from 0 to "i cant live without you i love you so much", but a slow escalation with roadblocks. A rough example is Aya in Lovely Cation, she doesn't even say "suki" until after the confession and during the second sex scene. Not saying the writing in that game is masterful but that was well done and something I'd like to see more of. In the vein of anyway.

Yeah, doesn't seem to be too short either. I figured I'd be done by now. Dunno how much different routes will change though. There's like stuff that feels like part of a character route and than there's stuff that totally doesn't feel like it. Well the last chapter is definitely unique. (and by far the longest, at least in my playthrough right now)

That said, the game generally has some pretty nice music here and there. I'll probably play the other routes at some point as well. The cast is generally pretty nice I feel. Saki is currently awesome again..

Well, that didn't happen for me. I THINK the first major branch is chapter 6 and then chapter 8, while 7 should be mostly the same? At least with the exception of a few minor scenes there didn't seem to be a specific heroine focus in 7.
That said, I feel like Saki getting kidnapped might be fine. Did you get the bad-ending in like chapter 2? Aside of it being pretty nice and chilly, I felt it provided an.. interesting question as for the connection between Saki and Maia. Might be completely irrelevant, but who knows..

I would never accuse Majikoi of being well written, but it's dumb fun sometimes and there are a lot of good characters. It's also very hit or miss. If we're talking A-5, for example, the Takae route was actually quite good even though it was probably the least anticipated of the A-5 routes. Yet the other two routes, Margit After and Yoshitsune are mediocre porn fests and boring slogs I only got through so I could criticize it fairly.

I like Majikoi, but sometimes I'm not sure why. It's incredibly flawed and full of pandering, so it really depends on whether you can ignore the flaws and just focus on the stuff you actually do like about the series.

Finished the Aritz (Alitz?) route of 珊海王の円環. Overall not great, fairly disappointing. Doesn't feel as terrible as Kami no Rhapsody, just disappointing and mediocre. The gameplay was incredibly simplistic and tedious, storyline was almost non-existent, replaced with minor character interactions and sex scenes. None of the characters really had the time to be fleshed out, probably a problem with having so many protagonists. The difficulty started out annoyingly hard at the start with low levels and Sonya never leaving me alone, then faceroll easy at the end once you outlevel everything else. For the final battles all I was doing was timing the skill activations and letting everything else auto fight.

If I had to say some good parts it would probably be the tempo of the gameplay and personally I liked Aritz. For Aritz I thought he was a better rendition of Eushully's recent "good guy protagonist", having more of a personality of naive, active kid which worked, instead of just "I need to help everyone even though I'm a pirate". I thought the voice acting also nailed it and helped the character. The second part was that while the gameplay was incredibly simple and required almost zero interaction, it did go by quickly enough. For most of the map phase turns went by at a good pace, though at the end you had some kind of MMO raid boss grindfest which was awful.

Overall the biggest problem was the almost non-existent story, and limited character development. It just felt like playing a bare-bones version of Civilization. The character designs were nice I'll give them that, just need to wait for a full save at this point.

How do you handle initial lack of water for healing?
I'm being attacked every turn by 2-3 other forces and just cannot keep up with it, since they revive all squads for free every turn while it costs me ~50 water per squad to heal 30% dmg.

I can't speak for the other routes, but for Aritz I found that beating Sonya once would make her leave me alone and give me time to level up. I took apart the 4th fleet and spread the units around so the 1st two had 6. The best way to deal with them was just to level up, picking on the weak troops they send out to fight.

The early sections are tough with all the enemy attacks, I found the best way is to not push out too far and slowly grind exp until you can fight back. Using his skill which makes you invincible along with the anti magic shield saved me a lot of revives as well.

The reason I dropped is was mostly because it had very little interaction with the heroines and most of the writing outside of the erotic stuff was the protagonist running around, thinking about weird shit and so on and so fort. It was.. weird as hell, and just not interesting. Not like there's that much "not ero" anyway. It's a nukige.

As for why I ended up being happy, it's because the VN is surprisingly fetish-ish. The first few things you'll realize is that it likes ahegao. But it seems things just get more and more.. well. Focus on leveling up your army, once you get a couple levels on them you can win most fights, and after the first upgrades any fight with the other fleets is easy.

I found that taking it slow and defensive worked better, and like I said beating the enemy's leader seemed to make them afraid to attack me which was helpful. The early part is the hardest, after that it calms down once you start to at least keep up levels with the enemies.

Get 1-person or 3-person units, avoid 9-person units at the start or you will not be able to keep up with heal costs.
You can buy various 1-person units from traveling merchant (gold NPC ship).

Don't cling to your territory, Bonus Resource spawns give more and you can snatch more territory from enemies when they are away. Heals are fucking costly, so your best bet is to fight only certain win fights.

Train your units at ruins/dungeons. Hetare dungeons can be cleared with no damage to 1/3-person units and give shitload of exp. Evolve your units when possible, its free but raises stats.
