Because everyone loves tech talk, my Magewell XI100DUSB-HDMI capture card finally arrived. It sure is "Jam it in, turn it on"-device, Windows detected it instantly and MPC-HC and OBS takes video in without any issue.

Only problem so far is ffmpeg, for some reason with it I get "[dshow @ 02a8df00] real-time buffer [XI100DUSB-HDMI Video] [video input] too full or near too full (136% of size: 3041280 [rtbufsize parameter])! frame dropped!"-error even ffplay plays it fine.

And here is quick recording test of R Player Plus, original.wmv should be undrm DMM file and obs.mp4 is done with OBS with CRF 22, preset medium-setting.

Don't have time to check your files, pretty busy at the moment. One thought: if your monitor supports it, it may have benefits to set its refresh rate to 29.97 Hz too. I noticed that the R Player (not sure if the Plus does it too) usually runs at 60fps, even though all the files on R18 are 29.97fps, like you correctly set up your card.

The thing is, if your monitor is at 60 Hz, we don't know how exactly the R Player Plus works. If it runs at 60fps too, and possibly has shit like frame smoothing/interpolation going, then recording at 29.97fps may introduce issues if the recording software doesn't lock the R Player into the recording framerate.

This really is all hypothesis though, so don't get too worried right away, I haven't been able to test it yet. And usually, recording software SHOULD lock the framerate correctly. Godspeed anon.
