Ugh, that Flowers demo was so disappointing.
>>
Somebody tell Peter to DELAY Flowers, please.
>>
>>14845896
Also, they want you to QC Flowers.

https://twitter.com/Swaps4/status/703664432153567233
>>
Maybe they'll delay Seinarukana since they're busy with the Flowers mess.
>>
>>14845896

They'll end up fixing the typos and grammar because it's noticeable to readers, but because Steam users won't care about translation accuracy, Jast has little incentive to care about it either.
>>
So reddit still believes in Dovac. They really think he didn't paid for fake reviews.
>>
>>14846195
There's no reason to assume he did.
All evidence indicates it was done directly by jap devs.

Hopefully they just scrap the existing translation and get someone who knows what they're doing on the project but that's probably too much to ask for.

Is there any specific reason by Albatross Koukairoku achieved meme status among English readers?

Catchy OP? Cause it sure is. Or just spamming?

It's probably just because Moogy mentioned it and said it was untranslatable or something

>>
>>14846790
I should have been more specific. I fap to every H-scene in eroge. Such things hardly ever appear in regular eroge.
With nukige, it's somewhat more complicated. With sex scenes being more fast paced and numerous, and the character interaction/bonds reduced, I don't feel "obligated" to fap to everything. So I mainly edge and then use a scene which I find above average, so to speak.
But yes, that includes scat, guro and monster birth. I don't have a problem with that stuff.

Moogy

>For the past week and a half or so, I’ve been slowly venturing through the behemoth that is Kanishino. Kanishino is one of the most popular eroge from the “golden age” of the mid-00s, maintaining an 85 median with over 2500 votes on EGS. It is perhaps most notable for being two almost completely different games, by different writers, jammed together into one product. Depending on which dormitory you choose to stay in at the beginning of the game, you will be either sent into the side of the game written by Marutani Hideto (possibly best known for France Shoujo) or the side written by Takehaya (known for Konata Yori Kanata Made, this game, and Soshite Ashita no Sekai yori). You will find almost nothing but rave reviews for Takehaya’s half (well, his part is 1.5mb and Marutani’s part is 2.2mb, but let’s call it a half) of the game, and having been impressed by Konakana recently, I chose to proceed with it first.

>I was not disappointed. Many people on EGS describe Takehaya’s contribution to Kanishino as essentially perfect, and I’ll do my best to explain why.

>Really though, it’s basically Grisaia no Kajitsu if it were actually good.

Thoughts?

>>14847076
And now with no possibility of fraudulantly bought games for Steam keys like Sakura Santa, Beach Bounce, and Highschool Possession, the top 5 might actually stop being so shit.

However, there's no such thing as "JAST translators", everyone works as contracted team for some single project. Makoto was only their real employee and even he left.
He was busy with SoniComi at time, so they just picked some random guy.
>>
>>14853335
>Did Makoto kill himself?
Peter Payne killed him by making him work on Sonico instead of Sumaga/Django.
>>
>>14853357
>even he left.

>>14853335
"Translators." If J-ast actually had those they wouldn't be such a mess. They've already outsourced two people from MG, and from Flowers it looks like they can't even find competent people willing to work for them.

No wonder Nitro+ is open to other publishers picking up their licenses.

Poor MG, they are totally shitting the bed with the Haruka launch.
All because of Steam pirates.
>>
>>14853604
The payment processor is supposed to be back up this evening sometime.
>>
>>14854130
But the pirates did nothing wrong. It's the fraudulent steam key resellers.
>>
>>14854177
If people didn't buy suspiciously cheap keys, then the resellers wouldn't bother stealing them.
>>
>>14853604
Haruka torrent where?
>>
>>14854192
Okay, but my point is that pirates are not involved.

At this rate, MG will have to close down due to being shamed into oblivion. Everyone of their empoyees will take new identities, the smart ones leaving the industry, and the remaining begging SP to take them into their fold as junior assistants. SP simply laughs and walks away, refusing to take in incompetent trash.
>>
>>14854243
hi dovac. When are all your kickstarters going to be fulfilled? I been waiting on Grisaia forever. What's taking so long on WEE? You knew about WAS' paid reviews already didn't you?

So, who set up the steam shit to kill MG? Dovac? Rance general? Rogue MG employee?
>>
>>14854243

More like rance's chances are fucked
>>
>>14854263
I think all the evn games MG was releasing was the cause. They stolen keys built up over time and it's possible the Kindred Spirits preorders pushed the fraudulent purchase numbers over the edge. The timing was just bad. Having 2 major releases so close together was a gambit to begin with.
>>
>>14854261
Welcome to 12 hours ago when I downloaded it from MG's site.
>>
>>14854261
The Japanese version is over 3GB. Did MG pull some compression magic, or did they cut voices?
>>

A lot of compression, no quality loss or cut content.

>>14854295
We're talking about the Japanese here. They can't into computers. They'd rather write their own custom, laughable compression algorithms while some random Russians like the developer of LZMA shits all over them just by passing by.

Well, then again, they probably have little interest in compression in the first place, since they usually just sell the stuff on DVD and there's lots of space to spare.
>>
>>14854344
That's funny because LZMA is the most commonly used compression in Japanese shit by a huge margin.

>>
>>14856642
I just cannot understand what were they thinking when they decided to launch haruka as is.
JAST delayed preordered games for years, one more week for Haruka wouldn't change anything.

The paygate integration is in final testing right now. Hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer.

>>14856715

I just mentioned that because people keep acting like we're just not processing orders for fun or to fuck with them or something.
>>
>>14856734
Do you know what literally means?
>>
>>14856701

I doubt them releasing it while no one can buy it will have much effect so long as they do manage to get their payment processor sorted soon-ish(and none of the people who preordered upload it).

I'd be more worried that they're going to have trouble promoting it by having missed the date twice in a row. You don't really get many second chances to have eyeballs looking at you, and haruka was already going to have a lot of problems being that no one will cover it.
>>
>>14856748
Actually, literally is applicable here. They have run costs, while not getting any profit from sales. In the end, they lose money every day.
>>
>>14856813
If you take "losing" to mean "spending" and completely discount profits. Not to mention that's true of literally every person and every business in the world, regardless of Haruka's status, so it's still retarded.
>>
>>14856840
I don't discount profits. They LITERALLY cannot have profits right now.
>>
>>14856866
They have several games on steam.
>>
>>14856878
And just launched a game on Steam that they've sold 5.6k copies of at $30+.
>>
>>14856715
I blame the people who preordered who bitched about wanting the game early because it was ready, and how it wasn't fair to them.

Also, the people who are furious at a few hours delay, and seem to think MG runs in Japanese time for some reason, are really obnoxious. It's not like MG can control what's going on with the processor. And delays for games aren't uncommon at all.
>>
>>14857251
Steam takes 30% and Steamspy numbers for games with only a few thousand sales tend to be very inaccurate, especially this close to when the game launched. All that's been said is that it sold well so far and that Liarsoft was surprised by how well it performed.

Very true. Maybe dovac's plan all along was to live the high life for as long as possible on kickstarter's dime, then let the company go bankrupt, blame his own 'inexperience', and laugh his way to the bank with his probably obscene paychecks, with zero liability (since Kickstarters aren't legally binding insofar I know, they fail all the time).

Doesn't even have to release much of what he promises, only enough that people don't get suspicious until it's been too late, and mostly only existing translations. Probably hired a bunch of hobos off the street to 'translate'/rewrite existing translations/machine translate + edit to look like a credible organization. That way, basically all the money goes to him.

Koestl is only around because they knew Grisaia wouldn't be salable without him working on the project.
>>

> In a world where MG goes bankrupt and SP/JAST still exist.

I don't want to imagine such a place. Low-quality translations with stripped content ahoy.
>>
>>14860693
And remember, SP doesn't actually do any of the work themselves, it's the dev's fault. So even though they're collecting the money, making the promises, and making the claims about how they're hiring the translators or doing the work, they're not actually responsible for anything. Just counting the money.

So about a thousand sales over the entire day, with Haruka being on the number 1 slot. I guess it sold well if the ranking's are at all accurate?
>>
>>14861703

Realistically, 800 sales. I typically weigh the first slot at 25%, but given the circumstances of nothing else really going on, I wouldn't be surprised if it were up to 50%. That would put it into the 650-750 sales range. It's likely passed the break-even point, but given mangagamer's aggressive pricing I would expect that they're looking for a bit more.
>>
>>14861819
Any idea what the preorder estimate is? Combined it may have sold around 1,000 copies, right? That's about what Koihime Musou sold at launch, though that was several years ago.
>>
>>14861819
> I typically weigh the first slot at 25%
Because sure all of these people lining up to buy Cosplay Alien or Sexy Era, right?
Its obvious that rest of ranking is filled with remainder of bundle coupons, and judging from coupon redeeming pace of payment disabled days, its very insignificant number, so almost all sales for last day are Haruka.
>>
>>14861819
Haruka's only partially voiced, so I'd assumed that was why the price was a bit lower than usual. I'm glad it didn't bomb, but as you said they may have been expecting more sales. Hopefully the next week or 2 will sure up the numbers.
>>
>>14861922

Hence
>but given the circumstances of nothing else really going on, I wouldn't be surprised if it were up to 50%.

There are obviously still a number of bundles left out there as can be seen by there being 280 orders while mangagamer's paygate was dead. Not to mention there are people buying other games and hardcopies. Of course, the beauty of the data being there is that everyone can decide for themself.

>>14861898

My preorder estimate was 300, I later revised it to 350 after comparing my estimates for flowers to the number of copies steamspy estimated before the game launched(ie people that redeemed their steamkeys before the game went on sale on steam), but steamspy later leveled out to be more in line with my original estimate. Therefore I'd go with my original estimate of 300. Though take note that that's more arbitrary than usual, as I had to make out what I thought the true top five looked like from the popularity sort. That's why I imagine the current number to be in 650-750 range.

Almost 2000 downloads
>>
>>14862968
Almost reached 10% of downloads of OLE-M's newest hypnosis nukige, which was uploaded on same day.
>>
Is piracy really such a big problem for translated nukige?
I mean, the japanese version of Haruka already has over 100K downloads on nya.
How many people will pirate the game now, that haven't in the last 5 years?

The most popular torrents for euphoria, for example, are still for the japanese version (over 10x the downloads of mangagamer's version).
>>
>>14863480
It's a matter of scale. The Japanese market for nukige dwarfs the market for English games.

A MG game that sells 1000 copies is successful so 2000 pirates is a big deal.

And yes, piracy is also a really deal in the Japanese market.
>>
>>14863480
It only becomes a problem when the one's you're pirating from aren't making enough money to cover costs and make it worth the effort put in. The jap and english markets aren't really comparable.
>>
>>14863480
EOPs will pirate it now. And Haruka's maybe made around 1,000 sales so far if tracker anon's estimate is correct, so over 2,500 torrent downloads is a problem.
>>
>>14862732
Small time.
>>
>>14863552
>>14863917
You're saying the same things the content mafia has been trying to argue for years. Pirated copies must NOT be equated to sold copies. Most pirates would NOT have bought the game if it wasn't available for free, so calculating one pirated copy as loss of one copy in profits is utter retardation.
>>
>>14864071
I've seen comments on different forums saying that they would pirate Haruka if the torrent came up before the payment processor was working again. And some people torrented instead of buying it because the payment gateway was glitching, but instead of trying to work it out, they pirated it instead.
>>
>>14864088
Even if that was true, it would mean that they would likely still buy it once the actually are able to again. Which further reinforces the notion that pirated copies should not be measured in "units not sold".
>>
>>14864101
No, they said "fuck it, if I can't buy it now, I'll pirate it INSTEAD."
>>
>>14864160
They'll pirate it for now, so they can play it right now, you fucking moron. They want it instantly, but that doesn't mean they changed their minds about the purchase.
>>
>>14864101
I posted about the paypal workaround and they said they didn't need it anymore since they got the torrent. They got fed up and decided they didn't want to pay. Of course, once something's "free" there are going to be less people willing to buy it.
>>
>>14864177
See

They decided not to purchase.

Let's stop here, Dovac.
>>
>>14864191
Steam is the future. The sooner MG realizes this and stops catering to you plebs the better. Clearly you can't win this argument.
>>
>>14864195
Call me when steam allows porn.

I pirated a censored steam game 2 days after launch. I'm not sure what your point is. Maybe you are implying that paypal is the future and if you can sell with that system, you are golden?
>>
>>14864331
That, and at least with Steam you're guaranteed a certain number of sales. Steam also has Steam wallet cards, which makes adding Steam funds a snap. Convenience of purchase is key. And people who buy shit just for trading cards and achievements.
>>
>>14864331
Steam shill, it seems.
>>
I want to kill dovac
>>
>>14864955
What did I do now?
>>
>>14865011
You are the Daiz of VNs.
>>
>>14865025
Wow, that's pretty harsh.
>>
Looks like sekai has been running around sending copyright strikes on a bunch of big youtubers
>>
>>14865847
After bragging about how many people were streaming their shit? Good work.

Is Atom Grrrl as good as it looks?

Fear the might of the strap-on dildo blade!

Order Number - 166281
Order Date - 2016-03-03 14:19:02

I was about to pirate it and hope for it to sell enough to get physical printing, but I managed to guilt trip myself into buying it somehow.
>>
>>14867086
Enterprise?
>>
>>14867217

Assuming a physical printing requires 1k units, it's rapidly getting there if not there already.

One of these days a convincing anonymous should employ some social engineering and email PCR and ask what their minimum print quantity is and then spill the email here. It'd give some good insight I'd imagine.

Not that I, a social coward who plays chinese porn games, would ever do so.

...But if I were to do so, I'd probably email something along the lines of "Hello, I'm interested in ordering a small disc print run for a piece of japanese software(including packaging). Do you offer this service, and if so, what rates and run quantities do you offer?"
>>
>>14867557
Usually there's no min quantity, just very shitty rates. You will get 5x+ rate per disk if you order in small parties like 200 boxes, compared to 1000-2000+ orders, according to sites of printing companies who had prices on public site listed.
>>
>>14867580

Hence asking the rates. We can pretty easily figure out what mangagamer would be picking,.
>>
What if Dovac is cute little girl?
>>
>>14867086
>as good as it looks?
It looks like shit so yeah.
>>
>>14867557
Yeah, if the sales continue to be what they seemly are, I wouldn't be surprised if it was announced sooner rather than later.

I still want a physical copy if one does get announced, so I guess I'll be paying for the game twice if/when it does.
>>
>>14867557
I still don't understand how mangagamers so-called best selling titles are gore/scat/pee/egg-laying/rape/torture genre.

Is it just the natural result of people who only buy shit having such a limited game selection they buy the games that are released, and all who like normal content have dozens of games to buy and may not buy all of them?
>>
>>14869372
What are you talking about?
Koihime Musou, Shuffle, Huniepop, Demon Master Chris, Boob Wars, Kara no Shoujo, Imouto Paradise, EROGE, Bukkake Ranch, and Harem Party were MG's best sellers of all time on their site as of January of last year.

And their top 3 best sellers on their site last year were Princess Evangile, eden*, and No, Thank You.

Flowers got a new TLC guy. No retranslation though.
>>
>>14869455
>almost every line is wrong
>not re-translating

Okay.
>>
>>14869455
I'm sure he'll have it all fixed in the next 2 weeks. kek
>>
>>14869468
>I'd also like to mention that there will be another translator and a bunch of editors/testers involved, so I'm not alone in this!

Hey, at least it's something, right? But I think there will be a delay after all.
>>
>>14869521
I don't know why JAST is adamant that the VN be released this month. Just delay it by a couple of months more. It's not as if anybody expects JAST to be on time for anything.
>>
>>14869532
Maybe part of the deal with Innocent Grey was that the game had to be released by a deadline.
>>
>>14869468
They will just make the script passable in the eyes of Steam readers, who don't give a shit about accuracy but will notice the editing problems. They aren't going to spend months of time and money to retranslate it to make the people here along with Moogy and friends happy. It's a damn shame Mangagamer didn't get the title instead instead.
>>
>>14869406
I'm talking about all these titles that people keep claiming are selling like butter right after they are released.

The impression from reading these threads is that Gahkthun didn't sell near as many copies as Euphoria and Haruka.
>>
>>14869542
18+ story games that aren't moege tend to sell like crap on MG's site. There's a reason that many of their story games are starting to be for games with all-ages versions.
>>
You forgot
>Bishoujo Mangekyou (34,2%)
I got your back, OP. Don't worry about it.
>>
>>14869575
It's a translation of a translation.
>>
>>14869539
What I don't get is how their old translator made it this far. Didn't any check his work at all. Even checking it mid-way would've saved them all this effort.
>>
>>14869577
Please, there have been J->C->E TLs posted in this list long before you came here.
>>
>>14869582
It takes a translator to check a translator. Clearly they don't have translators, so they let people who don't translate check translations for people who can't translate.
>>
>>14869594
I'm not a translator and I immediately noticed red flags.
>>
>>14869594
>it takes a cook to check taste
>>
>>14869594
Even if you ignore the mistranslations, their English editors must be shit too. Plus Peter actually knows Japanese. You would think he would take 5 minutes out of shitposting on Twitter to check.
>>
>>14869619
He obviously didn't think people cared about the translation quality and was surprised when people blew up about it.
>>
>>14869542
It's hard to think of a reason, short of Japan telling them no, that they haven't put Gahkthun on Steam in some capacity yet.
>>
>>14869628
Tentacle rape and arguable rape. Most of the sex scenes in Gahkthun were pretty fucked up, which I liked, but MG might not want to put on Steam, or that Steam might've said no to.
>>
>>14869542
Maybe, here's a thought. Gakthun isn't completely about PORN. Crazy, huh? People like porn.
>>
>>14869606
Obviously you have to have tasted before to be able to tell if the taste is right.
>>
>>14869628
Well there's plot stuff that happens in the H scenes so I don't think you can just cut them out.
>>
>>14869631
yet Nekopara paid offsite DLC for explicit H scenes with animation is fine.
>>
>>14869646
One of the H scenes was also one the the unlockable chapter end scenes, which would lead to a content gap.
>>
>>14869648
The problem is Gahkthun's H scenes are big parts of certain chapters and are very plot relevant. Creating a cut version for Steam doesn't seem possible without mangling the game.
>>
So has there been any word about Subahibi from KeroQ?
>>
>>14869822
Yes.
>>
>>14869822
JAST is releasing it as we speak.
>>
Is it me, or is the VNTLS list getting smaller every week?
>>
>>14871281
Because the things that are translated and released gets removed after two weeks.
>>
Atom Grrrl makes me embarrassed that I spent 5 minutes pirating it. What a shit product.
