Just started Fureraba. I've seen it recommended a lot and I've been hankering for romance so I started it, but I really have no interest in any of the girls so I'll probably drop it.

Well she became like that after she realized her full potential again. She was an aestheticist (which would explain her attraction to Wilde), and to me, she became a vessel that serves beauty (Naoya's dad described her as non-human, if I remember correctly, and wanted her to stay human) and she indeed saw beauty as some kind of perfect God. That would explain why she became so cold, in a way. Naoya had the opposing view that beauty was human, and thus weak and imperfect; but saw that as a good thing. Same as his dad. Personally I completely agree with Naoya as I'm not an aestheticist, so I also felt Rin as somewhat unpleasant. But it probably depends on your view.

I'm wondering what kind of plot Sakura no Toki's routes will have. I guess Sca-ji can come up with pretty much anything. Some sad backstory for heroines that Naoya can solve. But honestly that would feel like a too much of a repetition of Sakura no Uta. Especially if it would copy 『ＩＶ』.

Honestly I'm not really digging the game as a whole, but I could play this scene over and over.

What are some (visual novels with) good routes focusing on the protagonist being unsuitable for the heroine? Where she's of a higher status, I mean. If possible without denser-than-a-black-hole protagonists, the last 2 I read had one of those.

Yoppi is basically a side route, same with the teacher, so their routes are shorter.
Otherwise the main routes are all about the same length, Sunao doesn't really have events before the route because they are the same as Yoppi's, but that's about it.

The teacher's voice is more quiet than anyone else in my game for some reason, despite being fine in the sound settings. I had to turn everyone else down and voices up overall for it to be balanced. I mean, I sometimes dial down high-pitched voices, but hers was half the volume of everyone else's.

Finished the main route Kyonyuu fantasy 3. Compared to 1 and the original 2, the main route wasn't that much shorter. From the looks of the cg room though there definitely doesn't look like there will a lengthy side route like the bodyguard and elf kingdom routes. Now for spoilers

I wasn't kinda of half expecting but I was still a little disappointed that yuri ended up the god emperor. It was obvious when there wasn't another emperor candidates being introduced besides the current emperor's sons but it just feels extra weird since the setting is the roman empire. Surely there has to be more people around the age of 40~60 with consul experience who can qualify to be the emperor besides two twenty years old.[/spoilers]

Also looks like they're definitely allowing room for more post stories. At the very least there should be a gaiden that takes place during the invasion of the Parthian Empire and then maybe in gaiden 2 yuri can finally fuck athena

Yeah, after talking about other kingdom you could tell Waffle are making it possible to create a sequel. They talked about Athena here and there and I was hoping for at least a sprite of her. I can't wait for the sequel and it will be surprising if there isn't one.


I haven't finished all of it yet and I've just skipped past the Farunelia arc to the end. The thing I've noticed about the story which makes it seem weaker than the original is that it seems to me that Yurina seems to be a lot more laid back and less cunning compared to Ryuto. Yurina is still likeable from his personality but most of the time his god abilities give him such a huge advantage that he doesn't need to be too smart to solve problems. How he faced the different gladiators and the swamp fight does make him seem somewhat tactical but is not truly challenged on an equal level, I mean the doesn't even need to rest after he uses his abilities unless that's the reason he sleeps all the fucking time. His powers and being wise led to his power but it seems like a natural progression for a god who has captured the hearts of the people.

It was jarring to see some of the poor art on the CGs. Some of those cg faces are incredibly amateurish and there is that one Constancia scene I remember looking like it was really low res apart from the detail on the accessories. Development was probably rushed?

However, I really like the setting and the art design. I haven't seen the roman style at all in VNs and it's a nice departure from typical fantasy and modern settings.
It was cool to see the different well known parts of roman society in the colosseum, the senate, communical baths, aquaducts and those weird dining beds. The god theme fits well with KF's story as well. Though God of Paizuri is stupidly ridiculous I find it hilarious along with his paizuri blessings. Overall it's nice to see them keep the humor and the lighthearted plot style they use throughout the series. In the end, the best part has to be the magical orc circlejerk.

The Ideal situation would to use other Gods backing the other Kingdoms and then have said Gods directly oppose him, Humans are simply incapable of beating him and having other Gods oppose him would make for a more interesting read..

Yeah I think that's the most likely to be the plot. The other gods are probably way more ambitious and serious than Yurina so it would make sense that they would affiliate with emperors unless we see a goddess of armpit sex. Your other suggestion might also be possible but I would hope they keep the focus on the ancient religions. I guess it would be like the rise of bakachin if they were trying to link the series together.

As would I but the series overall has somewhat kept to the real world in terms of society progression and they did go out of their way to mention that the Church exists. Even if they appear on the stage they won't have much influence as it's only a small religion at this point and we were told exactly how Gods gain in power in this title. I wonder if Faron is the Shinigami that becomes their Patron God

A minor point that I found interesting is that there was almost no distinction between Mazoku and Humans in 3, in fact mazoku were called human on multiple occasions by Yuranis and others. I guess the Holy church's decimation in the near future is what caused the breakdown

I doubt the emergence of bakachin/christanity will be a thing that happens in kyonyuu fantasy 3 because: 1. It's not very interesting with room for paizuri scenes 2. Nero already existed and died 3. the current setting is in the 100 ADs so we're still a few centuries away

Well they can easily add goddess or a prophet and somehow crudely engineer a plot which benefits both yurinas and her. It's also a fantasy game, I doubt they will be too bothered to care about being completely historically accurate if they decide this is the way they want to bridge the games. I imagine Yuri's ridiculous rise in power is likely to draw the attention of the prominent gods. Athena, or someone like jupiter will feel disgusted and send Athena to get rid of Yurinas and tell him to pack his bags, go back to the underworld where he belongs to play poker with Faron or something. Or it will just be other empires starting some shit and athena is related. Yurinas seems to have a higher connection to her and it would feel strange to completely leave her out like how you feel with Paia. Too bad with the incubus though. I liked Shamsiel's role in KF and how Ryuto used it to his advantage. the incubus seemed to be doing the same thing. Interestingly the plot seemed to change a lot after he left. Faruneria and Constancia just pounced on Yuri while he mostly just did his thing in his shrine as the other characters progressed the plot. I think its nothing to feel angry about but I feel there is nothing particularly dramatic that is related to the overall plot that occurred to these 2 compared to the other 3 heroines that made these 2 fawn over Yuri: e.g. could have a sparkling vfx ritual leading up to Faruneria's "growth" rather than randomly placing a clover. It's simple to write and it will FEEL more fleshed out like video games with just sparkly graphics to mask the shit behind, but as you say production rushed...

Hmm... is there actually anything that suggests the plot in KF3 is connected to the other KF games? Also are any of the characters referencing historical figures? I can't seem to notice any apart from the gods.

I didn't like soreyori because towa is being such a bitch to MC. she pretty much does what she wants throughout the entire game, came to MC, said she love him, the next day she started to hate him again, left him, came back to him after a few years, said she loves him, wanted him to marry her, and after they did she left him again, and then all that shit with the wall of mind and stuff and they finally be together. I don't know, I guess just don't like this kind of girl so it's really hard for me to not rate this game low. I kind of feel like the MC deserves a better girl, ex the osananajimi, but judging by how the game goes towa has to be "the true girl"

I just started playing Evenicle and I can already see how it could be someone's favourite of the year. I'm already excited just from the opening - I haven't played a real JRPG since Ni No Kuni came out in 2010 (or finished one since Golden Sun: The Lost Age on the GBA in 2002 believe it or not) and this opening is really making me enthusiastic. I keep thinking: Wow, 3D battle sprites! Anyway, looking forward to a good game.

Evenicle was my best eroge of the year.

It was just so fun and relaxing. And very well made.

The plot and characters for KF1 are pretty good for nukige. The overall lighthearted tone of the story, humor and the likable interesting characters makes me like the game despite the flaws in its plot. The series always has a purely "rags to riches" story and deus ex machina shit just sometimes happens for the mc but the mc is likeable to glance over his moments of good fortune. Besides, Ryuto generally sorts out problems without it and in these parts of the story is what makes him a likeable character. There are some great character development for certain characters. It's a great harem nukige, there is a good development story to the relationship with each heroine that kinda acts like an arc for the main story. There are also short additional paths for most of the heroines that break away from the main plot like a side alternative story.

Games finally became playable for most people in 2006, 6 years after the console's release. But the compatibility was still low, and it's been a gradual increase since then.

I just realized that I spent this year procrastinating more than actually playing anything.

Best: Bansenjin. Not as good as I was expecting plot wise, but the new heroines were great, plus the new BGMs and production values were fantastic as always. Some great lines made it the most memorable title of 2015 for me.
Most disappointing: Utawarerumono 2, though it certainly wasn't outright bad. Too much time spent on SoL stuff, delaying the re-reveal of the first game's main twist and the main story ends with unresolved plot threads just when the game was about to get actually interesting. Gameplay wise there were genuine improvements, but only the half amount of battles compared to original and they were too easy.

So I just installed Kami no Rhapsody, and this error message keeps popping up every 2 minutes or so.

Is this something Eushully puts in to annoy software pirates or something?

Yeah it had a pretty big impact, almost every companies blocked all gaijin ips at that time (some of them still remain as blocked, like Akabesoft). I thought that'd be "at least" end of the most nukiges but thankfully they decided to lock themselves which worked pretty well.

But now most of them become softer against west again like minori, and trying to get into west markets with steam etc, I'm a little worried about it to be honest.

Seine's route in LxC2 was surprisingly decent. I really wasnt expecting too much and thought I wouldve gotten bored and quit. It was certainly more emotional than the other routes.
