That's exactly what Korean companies do. It's not about the profit that they can make from the sales, which is minimal even if it's on the hundreds of thousands of sales anyway, but about the kind of public recognition, tv appearances and commercial deals with other companies (for publicity, TV spots or whatever) that they can land, building on the inertia of a push derived from the charts to try to establish the group in the market.
