I can scarcely believe that anyone would go in the wrong direction on a roundabout if you force people to enter tangent to the outside of the loop.
What the fuck are they going to do, not notice that they have to make a 150+ degree turn AND not notice oncoming traffic on top of that? They deserve to get hit.

Yes, they're becoming more common but they're still a relatively recent introduction.
If you see a roundabout in a North American city there's a good chance it used to be a intersection.
