I admit this is an issue. Due to their history, right wing parties don't have a very high level of trust here. I'm sure you can understand why. Sadly this has led to the shit that has happened in the last few years.

I personally don't trust a single word Merkel says on the migrant issue but it is true that many are now being rejected due to the Dublin regulations.

There is certainly an argument that Germans are more open than others to the migrants and I think of Germans as a pendulum like nation (they either veer wildly to the left or to the right) but to say they don't fly flags or have no pride in tradition is ridiculous. I would point again to the fact that I live here and have no reason to lie about what I see. As a foreigner living here I can say that they are very proud of their traditions, do have a national identity (especially when it's sport related) and are not willing supplicants bending over in the streets applauding and kissing the shoes of migrants. Again, take what you read with a pinch of salt
