To be exact, America became a superpower in 1945, after the decline of the British Empire.

1945-1776 = 219 years

Rome was set up in 753 BC and became a superpower after the total annexion of Greece in 146 BC.

753 - 146 = 607 years

Rome wasn't a superpower though because it had no impact on the American continent (We didn't know its existence, so it's irrelevant), but didn't have a lot of impacts on India and the Far East.
