The Western world has created a system that works for us. We've all recognized that cooperation is the best way forward, with the combined military threat of the USA/UK/France keeping the peace in the unlikely event of a violent partner. If the United States had wanted to, we could have annexed anywhere in the West. In 1955, we made up 60% of the global GDP and 80% of its military spending. But we chose not to.
