My mother and father were both homeless and I never went to school. I've been practicing English and math for two years. I am working on my English and I believe I'm improving but I'm struggling with some basic math. I don't understand how to borrow and am struggling with calculus.

You dont need to do mental math for anything except basic addition/subtraction/multiplication

anything more complex and just bust out your phone and use that.

I'm from a similar situation--let me tell you your only way of escaping poverty (this is assuming you have no network or connections or family who have their shit together that will help you get your shit together).

You find a trade school...something good, like plumbing, or carpentry. One that is preferably in a city or something so you can work while you go to school and get a car and save up money to move on once you graduate.

You take out student loans and pell grants to pay for it. Complete the program and find a place to work.

Or if you can, call around to different tradeskillers, or companies that employ their services, and ask if anyone is taking on an apprentice...This might be your best option (and would skip the loans all together).

Prepare to devote your entire mind, body, and live to your skill, become good at it, read magazines about it, try to be as professional as you can be with it. And use it to build up your life. No matter what it is, be passionate and good at it, never give up, and work hard. It is the best shot you have right now...and you WILL have a career with it.

Once again stick to things that will always be around: AC repair, plumbing, pipe-fitting, shit like that.

Start calling for an apprenticeship tomorrow, and have prepared what to say "I want to become a etc., and am looking to find a mentor who is looking to take on an apprentice, I am willing to relocate and work very hard etc."

>you may need a GED depending on the tech school

I was in the same boat as you, the key is to finding a real job as soon as possible, and working hard to make good money with it, and also finding a good, secure city/state to live in.

Goodluck, one day it will all be good and ok

If you try to pursue an education, because that is our society's norm for making money and fitting in etc., than you may find yourself so far behind that you will forever be playing catch-up.

Try a trade, you won't need to have en education and won't be playing catch-up for your whole life. Give calling around for an apprenticeship a try.

I don't think they would accept someone like me. I'm a terrible writer, it takes me forever to write a semi-large paragraph
