Kpop (which is becoming more and more asian instead of just korean, with many kpop idols comibg from Japan, China and SEA) and animes are unironically the only thing that makes it possible for the next generation of asians to not hate each other.

except old japanese guys get huge butthurt over k-pop groups. because k-pop artists take our women away when anime doesn't take anything from other countries...
I'm curious though, which market is bigger? Kpop or anime? What if you include all the Korean culture stuff like Kdramas or all the Japanese stuff like video games?

I'm an East Asian but they all do look the same to me. What is this??

K-pop is not quite popular in Japan though.
Rather tiny market with (a small number of) very eager followers, just like anime's fanbase. I assume the other countries are more or less the same.

that's true though... when only old women was watching k-drama, guys here were still chill. but these days, I see sometimes young girls on twitter don't hide their love for korean idols and middle-aged men on twitter start to stalk them and call them "traitors". that's like watching hell on earth.

nice proxy, kim
I Hear TWICE is becoming the second most popular artist on Japan, is it true?
>>79000468
K-drama is pretty awful, tried to watch some once, couldn't stand it. I don't see how anyone who isn't a zainichi could enjoy it.

K-drama is pretty shit, just similar to old J-drama, that's why our old women loved it.

In terms of sales number, might be true.
But it is also a well known fact Korean show biz companies in Japan buy their own concert tickets and music copies in bulk for boosting media publicity (funded by the Korean government) when launching new groups.
Korean exchange students in Japan are often asked by Korean companies to help promote their artists by making them viral in the Japanese internet, or in short, by social media shilling.
One of my Korean friends at uni told me that once.

to be fair, we do exact the same things for anime, but it is not successful as Korean government did for K-pop.

It's totally different to my eye.
Manipulating hit charts is just a league above in terms of fraud marketing strategy

Ah... well, you're just a kid then. Even Japanese artists trade the "music award" every year. That's just called
