More and more often I see sentences where to express the past is used "did" in the affirmative form, e.g.
>I did buy this
Instead of:
>I bought this
I mean, why don't people use the paradigms of irregular verbs? Laziness or ignorance?

literally who the fuck does that?

impara l'inglese entrambe sono corrette
>>78907112
If someone just want to claim they bought something, they use 'I bought this'. If they want to confirm to some other (bait) replies in an argument that they bought the object, they use 'I did buy this', followed by words like 'because'. Something like an attempt at emphasis.

Maybe people are being more assertive? Language isn't just grammar

never heard it

Seems it's used to put emphasis on the sentence.
