Back then violence was way more common if you went out on the piss you was certain to get into trouble, Here in London theres was all sorts of sub cultures that were really just gangs; skins, punks, teddy boys, mods etc (See Quadrophenia) If you looked even remotely different to someone and listened to different music you were enemies and would most likely fight

whereas now everything is just kinda chill in comparison, sure theres gang violence but thats just about money, nobody really cares who you are, where your from or your favorite band is
