Ah yes, so much affinity that the usual portrayal of French people is a snooty arrogant pompous cunt that'll feel at the first sign of danger, so much that actually speaking French on american soil is considered being anti american.
>>
I was not under the impression that we do show overt affinity for France.

Perhaps you are not aware that our countries were allies in the revolutionary war, so there is historical precedence to have a relationship.

We french dislike nobody. our bad reputation comes from anglos who have been brainwashed during centuries by their lords to hate us to wage war against us to reclaim back the french possessions of their lords that we annexed and their later dutch/protestant rulers who were butthurt at France renewed the anti french sentiments in great britain. Also most european nations developped their national identity during the napoleonic wars. We're friendly people, we just have a shit service culture, tourists are used to be treated like kings as customers and they are shocked at how it isn't the case in France desu.

Come to France.

I like France because they're one of the only other countries that has an obsession with making themselves seem important. They like glory. Also crucial for the war for independence. French public feeling seems a like more hot/cold than most countries, but that's fine. I still like them because even though they seem inconsistent at times, at least their being honest.
>>
>>78785143
You're being silly. Every administration is different and serves its own interests. Additionally the general public is retarded.
>In 2002, 62% of French people viewed the United States favorably; this number dropped below 50% for each year between 2003 and 2008, due in part to differences between the two countries during the Iraq War. As of 2013, 64% of French people viewed the U.S. favorably, increasing up to 75% in 2014.[1] According to a 2015 Gallup poll, 82% of Americans view France favorably
>>
No normal people hate the USA in France - Only the Maghrebis, nationalists and commies.
>>
>>78785588
>French public feeling seems a like more hot/cold than most countries
what do you mean?

> they're one of the only other countries that has an obsession with making themselves seem important
Because we were, but long, long ago. It stopped after WW2. De Gaulle himself said "France cannot be France without greatness".
>>
>>78784376
>they stopped final german offensive in the Bellau-wood

You can say the same thing for japanese's attacks on some german islands back then. The war was already over.

> in ww2 but france was liberated by them

Hopefully my town was liberated by canadians, which were much more helpfull to the people than the americans that kills much more peoples than nazis in the area.
>>
>>78785753
>Only the Maghrebis, nationalists and commies

What's left?
Macronies turbocucks?
>>
>>78785813
Your public opinion seems to vary more than other countries. Most populations do this to some extent, but it seems extreme there.

The most recent example seems to be the overwhelming infatuation with Macron followed by a very sudden drop in popularity. It seem, to me, like French favor/disfavor of things goes through up/down cycles that are pretty extreme.
>>
>>78783265
>Why do Americans usually show great affinity with France?
In what alternate universe?
>>
>>78786025
Educated Americans have a much better opinion of France for their historical contributions than your average lower class American, who doesn't like anything outside of their little bubble.
>>
>>78785992
>The most recent example seems to be the overwhelming infatuation with Macron
Do Americans even read the news? The last election saw a record number of blank votes (ie. people going to the ballot and voting nothing), which is interpreted in France as a protest vote. Even many people who voted Macron were unsatisfied, with one interviewed voter even comparing the final vote as choosing "between the plague and cholera".

They don't like Macron, they just hate him less than Le Pen. The international MSM just likes to spin the narrative of Macron as the destined savior of France (which is also why they keep harping on YOUNGEST RULER SINCE NAPOLEON HURRDURR [even though fucking Louis XIV inherited the throne as a child]).
>>
>>78786117
His approval rating was almost 70% at one point, so I'm really not inclined to believe you. Maybe the French have a different perspective on what the word approve means to them culturally.
>>
>>78786117
>YOUNGEST RULER SINCE NAPOLEON HURRDURR

He came in power younger than Napoléon, so it's not even since Napoléon, but since Louis XV for this part.

>His approval rating was almost 70% at one point
64% at his peak. That's lower than what Sarkozy started out with and only slightly higher than Macron. Far from the "infatuation" you claim. In fact, excluding June, Macron is doing worse than Hollande across the board in terms of popularity, but nobody will claim that France was infatuated with Macron or even Sarkozy.
>>
>>78786317
Oh wow, I didn't realize the baseline approval for their new leaders was so high. I guess I lacked that context.

why ? i voted le pen but you have to admit this guy is actually consistent, fot once he's not even a liar

a true man of his word
i don't understand why he dropped

No, by deleting the work code and re-passing el khomri laws but harder and by force
>>
>>78786117
This, many people voted Macron to make "barrage" (roadblock) against Le Pen.

>>78786317
>inb4 Macron the most hated man in France before winter

>>78786662
People in the second round voted for him because they wanted to stop Le Pen. They didn't really thought about his program, and the media was constantly pushing for him. He's also the complete opposite of Mélenchon so that's already a lot of people who dislike him.
>>
>>78787377
I am French too i'm just on holidays i know all this
But still he got to 70% approval somehow
It means he lost approval among his own fanbase which is crazy

is it true that Macron compared himself to a God?
>>
>>78787656
>Is it true that a God compared himself to a God?

???

He is literally the reincarnation of Jupiter, you know
>>
>>78787656
>>78787852
Yeah, though as much as I dislike the man it requires some nuance. Hollande advertised himself as "Mr. Normal" and an "enemy of the rich". This drove France off the deep edge. In opposition to this, Macron has claimed that he wants to rule France in a way similar to Jupiter: distant from the masses, and making his judgements with his own great wisdom. This is also why he stated that his thoughts are "too complex for the media".

Naturally this made him a lot of enemies, most of all among the French people (considering he now does shit without any explanation because he doesn't believe he owes anyone an explanation).

Strange that so many people compare him to Napoleon, the *populist*.

it's not far off, your army was kind of potentially going to mutiny like the Russian army if things went on any longer as they were
>>
>>78791200
american soldiers were volunteers and they essentially helped buildin roads and hospitals
>>
>>78791200
The mutinies were already effectively suppressed in early 1918, as opposed to the German side where there were full-blown (communist) revolts. On top of that the Americans were to a very large extent forced to use French weaponry, almost their entire tank divisions consisted of French FT-17s and American generals used strategies that had already proven outdated by the start of WW1. Those Russians you mentioned probably did more to save France than America. Far from saving France from defeat, they shortened the war.
>>
>>78791504
strategies used (whether your claims are full of shit or not) are immaterial, it was the promise of relief to weary men that reinvigorated a stagnant and dour coalition
>>
>>78785827
is it true that americans killed frencn civilians? well probably those civilians were fans of Vichy-regime.
>>
>>78791625
>Stagnant and dour
That's questionable, but even if that's the case how does that translate to saving France? Or are you honestly under the impression that Germany had any fight left in 'em by 1918?
