How do dialects exist in a country like the USA?
Surely everybody move around a lot and they would disappear in a few generations?

>everyone move around
US is very large and very hostile, the negro fauna is very dangerous.

Mostly due to immigrant concentrations, and many people don't move that far from home - especially in the past, when it was expected that at least one kid would take up the family business (often a farm) and family was your best and often only social support net. Before interstates, even traveling to the next state over could be an ordeal if the terrain was rough and driving from coast to coast could take more than two weeks.
>>
People move around to bigger cities. No one moves to the countryside unless they're hipster douchebags who haven't learned what farming is really like, and what poison ivy really feels like, and how boring it is to be out in the middle of nowhere, yet.

>No one moves to the countryside

Almost everybody who can moves out of the city once they've made enough money to get away from it.
Most people moving too the city are immigrants and young people who want to feel excited about big buildings and the hustle and bustle for awhile.

Before cars or well established roads, a coast-to-coast trip would take a literal year or more. After trains were an established thing, that was cut dramatically, but the distances were still vast enough that the erasure of dialects was impossible, let alone that trains by themselves couldn't ferry enough people. By 1900-1950 or near a trip long enough to get you into areas with different dialects would still be done by train. Only nowadays is travel advanced enough that there's even a possibility that dialects can fade, but every one is much too well established for that to realistically happen.

You do realize that 'the countryside' isn't just farms, right?
>>

Most have disappeared. The modern US is a giant homogenous pile of boring shit.

Literally move 5 miles and its a different country, the us is very heterogeneous.

The fact that you're so sensitive about it only means you know it's true, cupcake. The few that are left will be gone within the next forty years, after which 100% of people will speak like boring faggot TV characters with a dick in their throat, and not just the 70% that do now. Welcome to the 21st century.
