Why do Americans not take pride in their British heritage like

They don't like us.

To be a true American is to be of British stock. Brits have been in America for so long and were instrumental in creating their nation that they've just become American and nothing more. They're not Italian-Americans, they're not Irish-Americans, they're not German-Americans. They're just Americans.

I think Americans actually are very concerned with their heritage though? Everyone here seems to know where their blood comes from. The first person I ever met who DIDN'T know his exact heritage was a guy from Germany... Was probably unreasonably boggled by that.
