Yeah, I've heard that for example Cluj-Napoca is widely regarded as a great place for BPO/SSC offices. Romania is booming now and it's nice to see it.

Anyway, I think Romania needs even bigger regional cities to defy Bucharest's domination. For instance, even though Poland is politically centralized and almost all government offices are located in Warsaw, our regional cities have a strong private sector, with lots of offices of foreign companies, therefore they aren't lagging behind that much and living standards in these cities are on par, or sometimes even higher than in Warsaw, so Poles don't need to move to the capital to make a career and wealth in the country is dispersed more evenly, notice, how small Warsaw is comparing to the size of Poland (less than 2 million people in a country of 40 million). It's a German way of sustainable development I like very much and I think Romania should follow this way as well.

When you live in Berlin or Paris you see some shitty ran down parts, or dangerous areas that feel african, or you walk down the metro and the whole thing reeks of piss. And all the gdp figures and shit you've been told vanishes because you see it's just like any other place.

In Czech Republic the first time I was there we were in a hotel on the outskirts and entered the commie blocks. We noticed they're painted better than ours and it looked maintained but we could tell the blocks feel like back home, and smell the ex-communism. All european countries are more similar to each other than they are different.
