It actually, and you WON'T BELIVE THIS, has to do with Richard the I, AKA the Lionheart.

it became associated with the royal family after the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine to Henry II. The Lion is derived from the coat of arms of the Duchy of Aquitaine - Eleanor's family. Naturally, of course, the Lion as a symbol of British "pride" became symbolic of her son, the Lionheart.

Of course she had too many children to bother remembering, but the cool one made it into popular history so that's the shit everyone remembers

Nice assumptions, however, I think moose are stupid because of their behavior and inability to analyze situation, danger and even what food is safe to eat, if you've ever encountered one you'd realize what they're actually like, hesafag.
Being unable to be tamed is just a side effect.
>>
>>78512871
So what you're really saying is it would be very hard to train a moose to read the news live?
>>
>>78512811
that one's pretty fucking complicared, in the most basic, not-entirely-accurate terms, the rooster used to be like an ornament on french churches, and since roosters are constantly waking you up, they were a symbol of vigilance.

the Coq Galluois(a play on words, as gallus is Gaul but also coq, or rooster), is kond of a symbol of the french people never letting their guard down, but during the Revolution it got adopted by those guys and then it became a whole thing.

It's just...it's weird and complicated

It goes further back than that as well. There most likely were european lions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_lions_in_Europe
So its a very old symbol for rich families, dating back to ancient Greece. That it was used by the Duchy of Aquitaine is a way to show the connection with that family to that of the families of the antiquity.

>>78513095
I think it was a Welsh breeder for whom they were named, but the UK kennel club just recognises them as English setters, the name llewellyn is only officially used in North America.
Basically just an english setter which is a little more versatile in that they can also effectively point, flush, and retrieve, in addition to setting. British kennels employed dozens of specialist dogs, in North America kennels were much smaller so versatility was needed. They are called the gentlemen's breed for their outstanding personality and behavior traits.

Nah, I mean you can definitely make those connections, but Lions were known to europeans for literally thousands of years before the English monarchy. The Ancient Greeks and by extension Romans were all about them lions. The adoption of the Lion symolically comes from Richard.
>>78513080
No problem. Usually I have to dump all this shit on my friends who are very much my friends DESPITE my lectures and not BECAUSE of them, so if anyone actually likes them that's great
>>
>>78513208
Bald eagles are a bit shitty, but if you had to pick one remarkably retarded North American species it would be the bison. It took DDT to endanger the eagle, bison just got shot to death because they're retarded. At the time of European contact there were up to 60 million, 400 years later they were down to like 2 calves from which today's herds originate.
Fascinating animal historically, on par with the beaver, but unlike the beaver, totally fucking stupi.

Are you sure the moose is supposed to represent the US or France? It's kind of a Canadian thing as far as we're concerned. Especially with that leaf cup. The American would probably be a grizzly bear or something like that.

I'd expect a talking waffle if it didn't have to be an animal of some sort.
Maybe a butterfly with waffles for wings

This annoys me, because the whole point of the film is that there's no domesticated animals.
