Quebec is actually insanely poor. It (like most Canadian provinces) survives on transfer payments from the few provinces that actually do make money (like Alberta).

The Quebecois can spin this as prosperity because they work as a unified ethnic bloc that allows them to punch above their weight class politically and get all kinds of economic concessions from Ottawa. Same thing France does in the EU with respect to shit like farm subsidies.

In Alberta? No, that's tar sands. If they have shale, it's not very developed at all because the Canadians don't want fracking.

One area where Quebec is definitely rich is in cultural exports. Their media industry (games, TV shows, animation) is incredibly strong. Outside of that though, they don't have much domestic industry, and their insane gains in cultural shit is actually subsidized by the Canadian govt at large. Why do you think secession ended up dying as a movement?
