Soviet possibilities was not endless after Bagration operation. Being self-assured after long succesfull advances costed too much for soviet army in 1942 and 1943. The USSR didn't simply "offer help", the USSR demanded that Poland would let the Soviet troops into our country, so basically your authorities tried to use the Czech case to invade Poland. It was a trade union organized against the anti-polish commie government. And yes, there were many priests there, and Solidarność was generally pro-Catholic, but that's because Catholicism and Polish patriotism go hand-in-hand. Commies were anti-church and pro-atheist.
