Hypothetically, what is preventing some rich person from sticking a bunch of structures in the sea and creating a new country, a libertarian utopia? Aren't there any rich people willing to do something like that?
>>
>>78349266
That would cost hundreds of billions unless you're thinking about a single naval base, and not even the richest ones have that much money,
>>
>>78349266
Would die out really quick
>have to import anything
>no exports cause what the fuck are you going to export other than fish
Just a matter of time until the money runs out. Most rich people are smart and realize this, so they don't do it

somethings not right here...
>>
>>78349266
If being a libertarian utopia was a commercially sound investment, then the market would have done it years ago.
>>
>>78349266
The rich people already own the existing countries. Why would they need to waste money doing this?

why would they? big companies like big government because they can use it to kill their competition

1. Rich people usually have more influence in their current countries si what is the point
2. Rich people can easily move to another country

>>78352704
nonsense
Croatia imported fucking military jets, attack helicopters, tanks and rocket artillery during an arms embargo and with very very little money
and here are you saying that someone would have a trouble to import some vegetables

>no exports cause what the fuck are you going to export other than fish
gambling, tax heaven, drugs, tourism, ship registering, etc. I mean Singapore exists, Macao too, Bermuda, Gibraltar, etc.

>>78352931
females are commies and yanks like to push "democracy" and universal vote
fucking UN

> hundreds of billions
wat?

harmony of the seas costs about 1 350 000 000 $, certainly you wont need 100 of them

Legally only nation states can claim sovereignityand you need a flag on structures built on international waters. You'd esentially be spending billions to cerate terra nullis someone else could claim.

Some small shit micronations, Sealand comes to mind, have been tolerated basically because they're shit. An Italian guy tried to build one that wasn't shit from start, his government seized it and destroyed it.

>>78352704
Meh, you could technically make it sustainable enough with current tech. There's no reason to, however, the real challenege is marine conditions and enduring storms.
>>
>>78353711
*create terra nullis

an attack

Artificial islands (like the ones in the South China Sea) are not recognized by UN law.

if you didn't fail, you'd get attacked by pirates.
>>
>>78354112
>you'd get attacked by pirates.
FFS, all you need is one 50. cal or one water cannon

you americans are the worst, believing your media bullshit
pirates are nothing
ISIS is nothing
>>
>>78353462
I'm pretty sure he was referring to fixed platforms in the sea (like Sealand), not a movable set of ships.
>>
>>78354216
drop an anchor or just put some pole in shallow part of the Indian ocean and attach cruise ships to it, still not 100 billion usd
and if you don't need some crazy performance engines it would be cheaper than cruise ships
fucking done
