If North Korea is allowed to have nukes should Japan and South Korea be allowed to have nukes?
Should Vietnam?
Germany?
Laos?
Saudia Arabia?
Lebanon?
Australia?
Brazil?
Canada?
Ireland?
Norway?
Finland?
Spain?
Morocco?

so then if every random country gets nukes.
What happens if someone chimps out like Argentina did in the 80s with the Falklands?
Are we just supposed to hope neither parties view that as a reason for nuclear war?

Actually, Japan is already in the state that warrants a legitimate withdrawal from NPT and nuclear armament as we've been undergoing a series of ICBM landings in Japanese waters off the coast of cities, which easily fulfill "extraordinary events" the treaty stipulates for. There is no telling what the warheads are and what would happen if they missed their aim a bit.

>Article X allows a state to leave the treaty if "extraordinary events, related to the subject matter of this Treaty, have jeopardized the supreme interests of its country", giving three months' (ninety days') notice. The state is required to give reasons for leaving the NPT in this notice.

>>78258764
what if they develop their own nukes
>>
>>78257794
I mean the MAD doctrine only really works when you got shit to lose. That's kinda why we freak out when little shit countries become nuclear powers. China's gonna have to watch em real close and probably intervene personally if something goes down because the last thing they want is that much fall out hitting close to their border. That's just an opinion though.
>>
>>78257794
Just give them all nukes and shoot them all at America. Only America will be a wasteland. Just get Brazil too.

SPEAKING as someone who studies nuclear and cyber warfare in depth as a profession and isn't just another armchair general, I can assure you that it isn't a good idea to give nuclear weapons to Japan and South Korea, and any other nation. Not only that is not a good idea, it also won't happen at least in the next 30 years, guaranteed. Japan and South Korea can assemble small nuclear warheads if necessary, but they lack any means to deploy them unless there is technology transfer from another country, which there won't be. It's also not in Japan's or South Korea's interest to own any nuclear weapons because of two main reasons:
1- North Korea has 4 warheads and poor means to deploy them, meaning investments in interception (specially in collaboration with the US) are wiser. There's no point in starting a nuclear arms race because of 4 small warheads with unreliable delivery systems.
2- China has a policy of no use against non-nuclear States, and if you were South Korea or Japan, you can imagine that you'd probably want to not be on China's nuclear crosshairs.
>>
>>78259147
America would shoot back before they land. that's nearly 2000 ready to go nukes hitting in retaliation to every shitter country half of which are small enough that hitting all their major cities would ruin their lands for centuries. Its almost like NORAD exists pretty much specifically for that reason.
>>
>>78259164 that's.. not actually what their camo looks like is it? Does it actually work anywhere? That's a movie right? I mean look at them hip firing. pls.

It's because there are plenty of variations, both of color and pattern. The first one is marsh/swamp, second is woodlands, this is the grasslands. There's also desert, camo and forest, but I can't find them. After the USSR fell the Norths were paranoid the US would invade so they came up with a lot of shitty camos of their own very quickly because of their fallen supplier, and due to sanctions camouflage is one the many departments that stagnated in shitty indigenous 1990s tech.

lol your opinion is no more than a meme as well

>but they lack any means to deploy them unless there is technology transfer from another country,
not for japan, which already has reliable launch vehicles on both liquid and solid based propulsion systems; one of which, the epsilon, was designed to be almost equivalent to the peace keeper missile in capacity and dimension, even though they are used for economical missions. also, the predecessor of epsilon succeeded in an asteroid sample return mission in which the payload went to an asteroid, landed on it and brought samples back; this is way more difficult than just directly delivering payloads to points on the earth like ICBMs do. so going nuclear is a walk in the park for japan in terms of technology and materials. it's only NPT that restricted japan from doing, and north korea gave japan the best excuse for an exemption.

>1- North Korea has 4 warheads and poor means to deploy them, meaning investments in interception (specially in collaboration with the US) are wiser.
there is no guarantee for this, and even if it was the case it's highly improbable that they'll remain the same forever.

>2- China has a policy of no use against non-nuclear States
yeah, i've also heard that china has a policy of "peaceful rise", while they build fortified artificial islands in the open sea to expand territories, threatening concerned parties. besides, policies can be changed anytime.

There isn't a single good reason Ireland shouldn't have nukes, we are the most morally good country and would never abuse them.
>>
