Anyone else feel like a piece of shit for not knowing much about the history of the world- and earth-system?
I feel bad not knowing much about the geography and history of Southeast Asia, pacific islands, Central Asia, Africa, and even my own continent.
Can't help but blame a nation-centric educational system.
>Feel bad?
Not really, no.
>Interested?
Ya, but rather the effects onto the cultures desu.

well, while some historians like wallerstein like to start the analysis of world systems in 5000 BP, I don't understand how they restrain to this time range since we have archaeological data of maritime trade from 90.000 BP. Still, seeing Earth's geological history dates to 4,57 Ga, if you're interested in the earth-system, you're also in for a treat. I get your interest solely on cultures but the homo sapiens has been here for a blink of an eye and cultures can be destroyed in less than one generation. This brevity makes me want to look at it as part of a bigger picture.
