if there is one thing that americans are actually underrated on, it's your willingness to give good directions
i asked some miserable kid working at a cashier for directions in LA a few years ago and he drew a fucking map of the entire surrounding area

This is something a lot of people here loath, you'll see it in movies sometimes even. People give directions too well and go so far into detail when all you need to know when is when to turn left off the main street. Especially don't (or do if want the detail) ask an old person for directions or they'll talk your ear off, and most especially don't ask any old person in a small town for directions or that conversation will end with them inviting you to dinner or just go on forever.
