But the catholic church is the one structure with the same churches for everyone. They don't have special catholic churches for different ethnicities.

Nah, every Catholic can go to any church, it's just the autistic Murican denominations that ghettoize themselves. Many Irish did in fact defect to the Mexican side during the Mexican American war so there's always been some sense of kinship, today there's Catholic churches in many large cities which are trying to revitalize through embracing Latin Americans. This isn't to say all churches will be welcoming, this is Americans we are talking about after all, but nominally the church follows the same principles as it does elsewhere.

American evangelicals really hate Catholic positions so they get a lot of hostility in some conservative circles despite the fact they align closely on some matters. In particular they resent the church's position on climate change and migration, tho many American "Catholics" will ignore these, there's even creationists despite the Catholic church accepting evolution and rejecting a literal interpretation of the bible.
