>This weekend begins the National Cherry Blossom Festival in our nation’s capital. The sakura were a gift from Japan to the USA in 1912 and the first festival was held in 1935.
>The USA doesn't celebrate this!

We celebrate every single year for the two bomb fires that you gave us in 1945.

Unironically, the first two shipments of cherry blossoms as a "gift" from Japan were discovered to be infested in asian cedar beetles.
We burnt them all and asked for a new shipment. The next shipment had asian fungal beetles (they spread a fungus that kills white maples).
So we burnt it and went to Japan to get the shipment ourselves in 1915.
The final shipment was determined to be clean and so now all the cherry blossoms at the tidal basin are from the Kansai region of Japan.
tl;dr the Japs were trying a sneak attack from the very start
