I've often wondered why the Swedish name for Wales is Wales. Why did we take the english name for the place, when our words for both the people (Kymrer) and the language (Kymriska) are derived from the welsh names.

It's especially strange since Swedish doesn't have a W-sound, and linguists are in favour of calling the languash kymriska. Why aren't they making the same arguments in favour of calling the country Kymren or Kymmerland or something else derived from the welsh name, while still fitting with swedish phonology? It's a strange thing...

Also Wales should be unilingual and speak only Welsh, Scotland should only speak either Scots or gaelic, Cornwall should speak only cornish, and Northern Ireland should belong to Ireland, where they should only speak Irish gaelic.
