Most of our land is permafrost, and any good produced in the interior need to be transported by land.
Texas has tons of oil right? How much does Canada have?

A patch the size of the UK. Although extraction and cleanup is super expensive.

An unhealthy portion of our economy relies on oil considering it costs a fucking fortune to get it out and oil prices are too low. When it was 100 bucks a barrel it was great but not anymore.

Unhealthy maybe, but its hard to argue against. Trudeau got assblasted when he suggested that we should phase it out- people in Alberta need those jobs bad, and the rest of Canada needs the money.

Nice country you got there, billy

>why the fuck do so many people live in northern alberta
Oh
I look into all possible futures, and Canada is in all of them.
They will outlast the sun

It does need to be phased out. Phased being the keyword. The price of oil will likely continue to fall as green tech gets better and better. There will always be a use for oil but if vehicles suddenly dont need 95% of what they used to the price will crash making the oil sands financially unviable.
