I smoke a pipe, and when I started last year, it was $20 for 50 grams of tobacco. Now it's $40-50 for 50 grams. It's not habitual like cigarettes. I have a few bowls in my days off. I've tried ordering tobacco online from the US, ($9 for 50 grams + shipping), but customs keep slapping duties on my packages even though they're under 200 grams, and the letter of the law says under 200 grams of loose (pipe and RYO cigarette) tobacco shouldn't have duties put on it.
They don't care though. The intention is to make tobacco prohibitively expensive, and I get it. I barely smoke anymore.
If I could get 50 grams tobacco for $9 like in the US, I'd probably be more of a habitual pipe smoker.
