Does anyone else feel uncomfortable outside of their own culture/language group?
Despite traveling quite a bit, I could never imagine myself living in France or Spain for example, the culture and mannerism are just too different. Even Germany is far too different for me, but in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, etc. I almost feel like a local because of the history and culture we share.

I only ever felt uncomfortable in Europe. I literally felt like I was surrounded by aliens or androids, our cultures are so completely different. Everywhere else: Asia, USA, you name it, people are pretty much the same.

think i'd only feel comfortable in auz, uk, ireland.. pretty much english dominant areas.... others would take a few years to pick up the language to feel semi at ease i think
>>
I completely know that feeling. My deep Irish heritage makes me feel like I'm in a foreign country any time I leave Massachusetts, people in the surrounding states just don't understand my deep love of Guinness and Flogging Molly. Someday I hope to move back to my ancestral Homeland of Erie, where my fellow Irish brethren will understand and accept me.
>>
I can relate to this kinda.
I'm a Turkish German and I mostly hang out in the Turkish districts. Whenever I go to the countryside it is way too German

I think it has more to do with Scandinavian culture than anything else. Everyone south of us is more open so obviously it's hard to adapt when we're all like animated gargoyles, unless drunk of course.

>been in the country for 3 going on 4 generations
>still on the same level as immigrants who came just a year ago
really makes you think
